Metis, Windows 7 and WinMX Hosted Rooms

Ok, this is very puzzling, but I was helping a room that has this problem.

Their room is hosted using WinMX. XP machine can connect the bot just fine, using loopback, but the Windows 7 machine cannot. Metis keeps giving a Key Exchange error. I am able to connect to other rooms on Windows 7.

I am guessing that the coding for Metis is in need of an update, or a patch, to solve this issue. Vista and lower work just fine, it is just Windows 7.

Possible fix for this issue.

Right click on the WinMX shortcut, click on the Compatibility tab, check the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 98/ME. Change all other settings as you wish, and check the box next to Run this program as administrator.

What one has to be aware of when nusing MS-ware of recent vintage is that they do this sort of thing on purpose to grab money off any developers by asking for hundreds of dollars to issue a "signing certificate", if a program creator does not pay this MS tax then they cant "sign" their applications and Vista/win7 will block them or at the least make like harder for you to use them.

No update is possible in these circumstances and you can thank Microsoft for that.
