Primary Needing help to connect
« on: November 07, 2005, 09:42:29 pm »
I use XP Pro sp2 and I'm trying to run v 3.54, I conect through cable and have 4mb down/256 up via cable modem, I use the windows firewall.

When I'm capable f using winMX, I cannot use any browswer or any thin client or application using port 80 (HTML), icluding MSN Mess (which now does not work any way). I can still use YIM in any case and Skype.

When I'm capable of using any browser or thin client using port 80 (HTML), winMX does not work at all, only the yellow light, even is I set the firewallk to work to send/receive though the ports indicated by winMX.

I did everything indicated in this forum already.

I'm at richardwagner1000@yahoo.com

Hi Richard,

Sorry I have seen your post and was hoping someone with more knowledge of this problem would step in.

My first thought is your hosts file considering thats the only thing that might have changed recently  to cause this to occur.
I would check the contents of the hosts file I had and see if there is anything there that could be redirecting.
WinMX doesnt use port 80 unless you set it to do so, so I am just curious what your hosts file may say.

How long have you had  this problem?
