Always good to see grass roots efforts that actually have some traction with the voters
http://www.p2pnet.net/story/38347With the success of Sweden’s Pirate Party echoing loudly, and the likes of George W. Harper running the country, with look-alike Libs in the background, it’s long gone time Canada joined the Pirate Party Club.
Now, “the Pirate Party of Canada has become the first Pirate Party outside of Europe to become an official political party, says Slashdot, continuing, “Elections Canada confirmed with the party that the PPCA has gained ‘eligible for registration’ status, and can run in elections starting June 14.”
It quotes an official PPCA announcement as saying >>>
"We are pleased to announce that as of April 12, 2010, the Pirate Party of Canada is officially eligible for Party Status. After 10 months of dedication and hard work, we have reached eligible status, which only leaves a 60-day “purgatory” period. After that, we will field candidates in subsequent federal elections, and begin the real work of a political party"
It will be interesting to watch the level of support such a new style of party obtains, one things is for sure lazy or corrupt politicians now have to face a new enemy.
