server has hiccups?
« on: August 08, 2010, 10:01:37 pm »
'400 bad request' and 'zero sized reply' have been happening to me with this site quite a bit lately.... while, with my connection, it could very well be routing errors... i just wanna let the server admin know in case something is afoot...

Hi Silver

We have had hic-ups with the server lately but I thought these have settled down.

Let me know how it goes over the next few days and I will do some more investigating if it hasn't settled down in the next few days.

its very intermittent... only seems to happen when there are about 6+ logged in users... guest count doesnt seem to affect it...

--edit--

and it gets really bad when posting... with that many users logged in

it did take ages to load, even then it didn't fully load, avatars was missing and it seemed jumpy.

Unless the whole site is down I dont think anyone need rush to the fire pumps just yet

No doubt the site-Ops are already on the case investigating the hiccup themselves and I suspect will be already waiting on an email from the server company, thus I,m sure we can leave it in their fine hands eh chaps.

Hi Silver,

after looking at things a bit I remembered limiting timeouts on the webserver to lighten the load a bit - I suspect that's what's affecting your rather slow connection.
I've tried to adjust the timeouts a little , can you check things out and report back here please?

Also we've been restarting Apache a lot lately, which of course interrupts any current connections.
We're trying to find a solution here, please be patient :)

working quite well actually... got only one 'zero sized reply' but thats not uncommon on my connect for many sites... as for avatars and other parts.... all that works equally well as well...

the timeout change fixed it :)
