I'm a Rogers customer who is the victim of bandwidth throttling and have been since November though I've only just found out that this was happening now - after taling with another dissatisfied Rogers customer.  Please count me in to any class asction you are going to do.

Do i have a name ?

Try to change your ports to higher numbers above 10000 Mabye you can get a port that your ISP is not filtering. If you do get one, post it here. Else you can always change your ISP :)
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

Most throttling is done on the Packet type and not the ports,.. you may be correct about that..

Try some ports that other programs would need for example remote desktops and others like that ..

1720
3339
80
120
etc...

or go way high like
58000
63000

ports 80 and 21 is some clients default ports which i not sure yet.
ya maybe my isp did throttle the packets and not the ports. which maybe show why i'm having so much problem downloading and uploading recently. haizzz if so any way to get round it? LOL

Port 80 is http are you running a webserver?  Port 21 is ftp are you running an ftp server? If you're running neither on your machine, then they should be free, if you are running either, then you should be aware those are the default ports for them.

Try out the suggestions listed here, like changing ports or going to another ISP. Better is to go to another ISP. but complain before you leave. Read Bearded Blunder's link.

Just to rub salt in thew wound rogers sent out notices that they will be raising their rates by $7.00/month plus taxes. They say it hasnt been raised since 2004. gee, thats about 8% per year and we are being throttled to boot:(

I originally posted my comments last November & I have read through the last 50 or so posts. If you are from Canada & you use either shaw or rogers cable, please listen to me. You will get much better use from winmx if you switch to a DSL provider. I was using Shaw cable a year or so ago and when I switched to a DSL provider, you would not believe the difference it made on winmx. Sure, Shaw worked ok when I was on say limewire, ares etc.., but it just seemed to have something againest winmx. I have grown to love winmx as most of us have & switched to DSL because of advice I read from others. With DSL, I never have to worry about people timing out when they are downloading from me & the same goes for my downloads. Please consider making a DSL connection a solution to your problem.

Thanks yall for your posts and keeping us up to date about how your doing..

This entire situation enrages me .. and I agree if your with these and you are in an area where DSL is available send these companies a message and change your provider.  Dont continue to support them financially if they are not going to deliver services promised to you.
