WinMX Radio
« on: July 11, 2007, 05:46:07 pm »
I have reopened WinMX Radio. Everything you need can be accessed from http://www.mxomega.com. We have requests, dedications, a forum, and much more. The music database is constantly growing, The database now contains 10,479 songs and when I am done typing this message I am going to add about 20 more. To listen just click on the Click To Listen button on the site above. If you need help with anything post it on the forum and I will answer it quickly.

Thanks,
Omega

Site Update:

The website is still the same address, just some minor changes.
  • Added Flash Welcome
  • Changed forum to Invision Power Board and added a portal
  • Added MX Web Chat
  • Added WMW Patches Page (backup use)
  • Added new Avatars, and Emoticons

The requests and dedications still work!!!

The user database could not be moved, so all those that had an account on the old forum will need to register again. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

I am working on the look of the site every day, with a little help from friends.

Thanks to all those who have helped with the site!!!

two requests;

-- drop the flash splashscreen... they were cute 8 years ago but... not anymore... (not trying to be mean -- just being practical)

-- a dialup friendly stream for those not lucky enough to have broadband (32kbs or less ... aac+ or vorbis would be best for this)

I have removed the Splash Screen as requested. It does make everything so much better.

I have changed the Stream Format to 32kbs/s. Hopefully now the Dial-Up users will not have any problems.

32kbps is kinda low, try 56kbps, dialup will be able to handle that,

a 56k dialup modem doesnt work the same way as other connections... 56k is the max theoretical speed which is only reached in lab conditions... there is no way a 56k modem can play a 56k stream... and even if it were to be connected at a perfect 56k theres still the TCP/IP overhead to take into consideration...

eh.. 'sokie .. was interesting while it lasted...

im guessing thats the shoutcast DSP plugin you are referring to.... you need to get a version that uses the 'lame' mp3 encoder or install the full version of the mp3 ACM codec.. (both of which i have forgotten where to find on the web but i think i have a copy of the DSP that goes all the way to 320kbps if you want it)

The only part of shoutcast I am using is the server. The station is played through Sam Broadcaster.

Best way to overcome this would be to setup 2 individual servers, then add 2 encoders to SAM, set one to say 24k for dial up users (2.4kbps stream) and another for broadband users, 128kbit or w/e.
If you dont have the resources/bandwidth to achieve this please get in touch omega and we will see about setting up streaming on one of the wmw servers for you

MicroMecca and I setup the radio on 2 servers. One is for Dial-Up users and the other is for high speed users. You can visit the page below and select your speed.

Enjoy and thank you MicroMecca!

Wow, I didnt realize it has been this long since I posted here lol. Well I would like to let everyone know that the stream is now online. Working with WinMXWorld.com to provide you with the best radio on the net. We are currently running non-stop Christmas music from now till Christmas. We still have our requests and dedications page, but due to the holiday season, that has been disabled.

Feel free to check out our updated website, now located at https://www.winmxradio.com. If you see the blinking On Air sign on the website, the stream is active.

Thank you all for your continued support!
