'open new search' should be in the top left of the search window or tab (to the right of 'chat' and the left of 'hotlist')

what you may have done is have clicked the 'float' in the lower right corner... when you do that a new window is created for only one search... but you should still be able to go back to the main winmx window and still see 'open new search' .... also... to fix your 'seperate window' problem click 'dock' in the lower right corner of that new/seperate window... it will put it back into the main winmx window...

silver, thanks--yes, i know where it was supposed to be--thought i made that clear [if not, sorry].  anyway, i was not in 'float' either, but a reboot rectified the situ.  forgot i was online for a few days--guess that reboot did the trick, but i was worried for a minute... sorry for essentially wasting the forum's time--it was unnecessary this time, but thanks again for the reply.
see you all next time--
