Topic has been split, this topic refers to the search attack on winmx and has nothing to do with torrents, any further posts regarding torrents or infos unrelated to this topic will be moved to a relevant section. Thanks

Split topic can be seen here

Seems to be working all day today. Did they get tired or are they just taking a break? Or did it screw their system up?

Any progress to report? I'm learning to get around  the fakes better. Anyone else notice about half of what shows up is porn?

as for progress.... well... its close... but we definitely dont have the cigar....

Do you mean the winmx program itself crashed? If so i think there was 1 or 2 others (that i seen) mention this.

Yes. WinMx crashed. And it just crashed again. Loaded right back up. But it seemed like it took forever for my queu to get anyone in it after the crash. I wasn't looking at it when it crashed eiither time so I have no idea what was actually going on in it when it crashed. Could be an intentionally uploaded bad file that crashes it. Or a rougue user in queu. Don't know.  Whoever's messing with WinMx is really pissing a lot of people off. That's a certainty.

No lilmama2, it's just more difficult to use due to the nature of the attacks on the network.

If you're reffering to the search results, we'd recommend joining a room of like minded users, trying out opennap or browsing users in your queue.

so from what im gathering winmx is now just a bunch of bs?

search: broken

channel list: mostly broken (josh, winmxunlimited, is making it work to a good degree with a utility but it does not stand on its own very well anymore)

chatservers: many broken in listing, have to use alternate means of getting listed but work as far as connecting/using goes... (see above)

browse: works

chat (when connected to channel): works

transfers: works

usefull infos; some chats have a bot that allows searching the users in that room... try using !find <what you are looking for>

depends on what you want in a p2p client whether its BS or not

TEMP SOLUTION:  (1)  AFTER A FEW MINS, STOP SEARCH  (2) SORT BY USER COLUMN  (3) MOST FILES FROM SAME USER, SO LOOK FOR USERS LISTED ONCE            GOOD LUCK !!!

so any chance of the attackers being identified so that a few of us can go to their homes to "discuss" with them why they should stop?

No one is 100% certain but on balance of probabilities and the knowledge of room events shown by the attackers its pretty certain these attacks are a direct result of King macro's ( aka Michael Jones of portsmouth UK ) malicious release of the hithertoo closely guarded primary networking protocol, despite his later protestations he has admitted he was behind the first series of attacks as well as a series of attacks prior to that before he was forced to unmask by being exposed. The technical methods used in the attacks are ones well known to KM and he has made further threats approximately one month ago in which he stated he will continue his attacks while I help on this site, this statement obviously confirms my belief that both himself and his close friend and fellow threat maker NB who resides in Norway are the two key figures behind the majority of the attacks.
NB has been repeatedly logged discussing new method of attack that appear a day or two later in usage by the attackers, thus its clear he either is an attacker or is known to the attackers, KM did confirm some months ago he too knows who the attacker(s) are but refused to comment further.

Many of the later attacks are based on as yet still unreleased protocol elements and are thus most unlikely to be copycat idiots, as KM and NB often try to claim when confronted.

The damage cost of the attacks on the userbase so far exceeds 60% of the network, I hope these two individuals are ashamed of themselves despite their being too gutless to admit their involvement for fear of the still existing userbase who are not bullied so trivially.

Why not he posted mine along with other information he thought would be useful to acheive his goals.

When this criminal is stopped then all will benefit and if delivering his name aids that then I'm happy to do so and provide further details too. Scum who attack WinMX and its users out of malicious spite dont deserve any privacy or respect. I havent forgotten how he placed tens of thousands of users and this site at risk because of his ddos attack on the US DOD, such attacks could have meant ordinary users facing criminal charges when the real criminal hides in his bedroom drawing welfare while the rest of us work all day.

if you two are going to take the childish route.... and ppl are indeed in danger due to ddosing the DoD and other agencies.... wouldnt the first step to stop the bot herder be to remove the 'malware' being used to do the ddosing?

an interesting idea would be to pull the patch (rename it to something like oledlg.off) and use the winmxgroup nap for xfers.... click connect on the wpn side and let the light blink yellow so chats can still be connected to but not the actual wpn.... no ddos ... no wasted bandwidth... chat still works... and search returns valid results...

the nap even has the benefit of a permanent hotlist...

...just an idea...

Theres nothing childish in exposing a criminal who abuses winmxers to attack folks and sites he does not agree with, just why you think different is the real question.
