@ oldman I don't have anything to do with fixing WinMx.
Hopefully the attacks have stopped because the attackers have decided to stop and let the users enjoy WinMx.
There are those that have the programming skills and are working on a solution to the problem but I'm not one of them.
We all have to remember that these programmers are working on this in there free time and have real life things to do also, hang in there and don't give up the ship.

Not getting as many bad files as last week. What UI'm looking for usuall appears in the first few that appear but then they scroll off real fast. If I can click on them fast enough I can mark for download. Sometimes takes two or three tries. Whoever you asre, if you're reading this board, you lost. We can adapt.

Usual qeue number for me is over 100. How does having the same number of upload slots available NOW decrease qeue numbers? This week end when the attackers wrere off I was back up to 100 in qeue.

New to forums so don't know how to post but if this works!!
Except for 2005 I've had no problems with WINMX (MXPie) until two weeks ago. I started getting MP3 search results that had nothing to do with my search request plus a few squares and odd looking shapes. Now 30/05/11 a search result is flooded with garbage and odd looking symbols that has nothing to do with my search request. I installed WINMX 3.53 community patch thinking that the old MXPie was the problem, also restored (systems restore) computer back 2 weeks with no results and have since (undo restore). Found this forum site and seems like I'm not the only one with this problem.

In many instances what you're searching for will appear when search begins. Then it will be swallowed up by a sea of garbage. You have to be quick on the mouse to click on wghat you want before that happens. Then you can click on FILE and it'll sometimes bring whay you want and alternatives. It also depends on whether or not anyone has that file. Instead of a blanl screen you'll get a thousand lines of crap.

Here's hoping someone will find a fix soon.

Oh, yet another lot of victims of this dire crap.

Well...

Albeit awfully cumbersome, there sometimes is a way out of this:
disconnect from the WPN, reconnect, do your search, be happy everything works.
(AS FAR AS THAT...)
And once your list of search results has been tampered with again, repeat the disconnect-reconnect procedure to do your next "clean" search.

It's near-idiotic, but sometimes you have no time for this nonsense and DO need at least one bunch of reasonable search results. Saved me 2 hours of time once.

Excellent advice Player, I have found that method to work myself and I also stop the search after I get about 10-20 results and click on the list view title bar (the grey bit at the top of the list column) to organise the files in alphabetical order to aid my selection as the real ones will of course soon be visible from under the "chaff".

Well as this seriously works, it could be something that we could premote to users until a new patch is produced. I understand that everyone is getting a little bit impatient but work is being done and all of this will be in the past to the point where it will never return.
