I think MCS will be gone shortly...

the biggest bug fix in WCS 1.5 was blocking a certain thing... which WinMX dislikes and messes up the channel window, MCS doesn't block this so i'm sure that soon enough people will start causing problems and hosts will move to more updated servers.

it was partially blocked in previous WCS versions (i blocked it in messages but forgot usernames)

its not really a bug in the servers, but the way the text is sent to the client gives it a lot of control over the edit control that displays the text (it needs to have that control to send the raw data to it for colours etc) however unfortunately the edit control has a small bug where certain data causes it to... mess up slightly, so text is there then its gone then huge gaps appear, then the text goes back to normal, then some random lines vanish etc...

just lucky that there was a flaw in MCS that hosts would immedietly want to get rid of, now they have no choice but to upgrade to something else that blocks it

New WCS version out folks (WCS 1.5.2)

Just a few bytes of adjustment KM said

Quote
I changed 2 bytes of the source code (one byte being changing "1" to "2" in the version number, the other byte being changing a "2" to a "1" in the disconnect handler)

This should fix the problem of exit messages not being sent in 1.5.1 :-P

Cheers KM , and folks, remember that restarting your WCS will automatically update it.

WCS 1.6 has been released.

There have been a few small changes, but the biggest one I hope you dont notice! (its a major security fix)

There aren't any new features, just a few small bug fixes and one large one. I've also added a little extra support for external config editors.

Any problems with 1.6 then let me know :-D

I hope we wont have any   , cherers KM

Newer version of the server released folks... same version number as most folks wouldnt have noticed the first one ..lol

Quote
Update: I've just re-released 1.6, its the exact same program so I wont bother changing the version number, but I havent compressed it this time - this seems to have fixed 1 or 2 of the small problems I hadn't been able to find a solution for. Unfortunately this does make the program over 100k which is a bit big, although by current standards that seems to be considered extremely small...

Uncompressing it will have the effect of not triggering some of the more cheaper anti virus programs, as often has afflicted compressed programs  :D

i solved the issue of that rougue antivirus program a couple of releases ago by switching to a different compressor :-P

I was trying to solve another issue with the MOTD with the uncompressed release, i didn't bother changing the number because its the same release, but i had a theory that the compression might have been messing up the memory allocation - one that may have been incorrect :-(

During testing i was never able to get it to do it, yet when i released people kept saying it was happening - and using the releases i could make it happen, so i made the assumption that compressing it for release was causing it... now, i really am confused

This was posted on Km,s site

And due to the large number of emails, I'll say this here, please could you try shortening your MOTD if you are having problems. There are ongoing issues with extremely long MOTDs in WCS. If you still have problems with a shorter MOTD then let me know :-D

Well I suppose that means folks will have to make the MOTD smaller, although why anyone would want multiple lines of text as someone enters I dont know, maybe a whole set of rules or something ?, could always use a bot to do the same thing.  :?

Small update to WCS (1.6.1) released

A few people reported small issues with channel listings in WCS 1.6, this was because the channel names were too long - so it was blocking the listings, i've just released a small update that will trim the end off of the name instead of blocking the listing.

Well done KM for sorting that small issue out  8)

(PS: When are you going to update the download ? )

New release folks  :D

I've released an update to WCS, I think that makes it version 1.7

Changes:

A few small "security" tweaks with usernames, nothing major but a few people were being an annoyance.
Added a /who command (S s and I Access required, you'll see why those 3 access levels when you use it).
Mode a small modification to the entry message for admins (Made the IP Address a different colour to make it easier to read).
And of course a few other backend changes that nobody would really care about.

Well Done and Cheers KM   8)

All software in use needs debugging.  Any bug-free software is obsolete.
