New release folks to fix a problem that was noticed.

Latest News

I was just given details of a security vulnerability in WCS, first one that actually was a real bug!

Unfortunately the timing couldn't have been worse, I am not at home and so I have had to use some offsite backups to try and release a fix.

1.7.2 has been released (via auto update) that should fix the vulnerability, although I don't have the stuff here to test it, It should be fixed but I am waiting for someone to come back with confirmation either way so I can either email the fix to myself and incorporate it in to my copy of WCS when I get home, or have another try tomorrow...

Oh, and I just re-enabled the website to make it easier to get to the help pages etc, I was planning on bringing it back online with a new design, but I just never got around to doing it... lazy me!

Well i have to apologize for what has happened to Josh and other people but believe me it wasn't me.

Unfortunately this crash tool has spread as it was wrongly in my shared folder (Lol). I have noticed that someone had downloaded it from me and so i have informed KM about the bug and him quickly has fixed it.

If you want i can give you my IP.

This bug is only WCS related and i'm not telling you about any other bug.

Great news folks a new WCS has arrived in time for Xmas !!

WCS 1.7.3 has been released, first real WCS update for a while .

Anyway, changes in WCS 1.7.3:
+ Added a limit to the number of invalid passwords a user can try.
+ Added a reload button to it.
+ Added a new option to the config file AllowMulti= to let you set how many connections WCS will allow from the same IP Address at once. (Default is 3)

As usual, restart WCS and it'll auto-update to 1.7.3

Sounds Good to me   , Cheers KM  8)

I've had some problems with this latest version of wcs :(
After running several days suddenly some people weren't able to join the room anymore - me included.
Suddenly people were blocked for no apparent reasons, sometimes a reload of the config file helps, but not always. I had to disconnect and get a new ip (thank god for a dynamic ip, hehe) to get back into the room - no idea why I was blocked, the banlist was clean.
I restarted the room now and tried entering/parting several times and all seems back to normal - will keep you posted if it happens again...

Oh, we're using this latest version of wcs (1.7.3 via auto-update) on a linux debian server under wine, dunno if it matters...

Same thing again after 3 days - ip's getting blocked for seemingly no apparent reason, restarting the room and all is fine - is it linux or does somebody else have the same problems?

WCS will block an IP Address if it keeps trying to repeatedly join the channel over and over again to protect from attack, joining from a different IP Address will reset it and let you back in again if that's what you mean...

Well, how long will it block it then?
And why only after a few days?  :S
People trying to rejoin the room, sometimes after hours, simply can't get in.
I know it blocks after several tries, but we've never had this problem before, it only started happening with this most recent version and after a couple of days.
Maybe the number of identical ip's in the room doesn't get updated or something and wcs *thinks* there's more than the limit after a while? (AllowMulti=5)
Anyway, I was just trying to find out if we're the only ones with that problem or if others are experiencing similar issues.
If so, maybe in a future version the ip's could be cleared with a reload or something?

Same thing again after 2 days I think it is - only this time even getting a new ip didn't let me in - several others couldn't join either for about 20 minutes.
I even tried from the server itself to get in, didn't work either...
Then I was able to get in again and restarted the room.

the automatic ban should only apply to the last connected IP Address, ie. if the last few connection attempts were your IP Address then it blocks you, once someone else tries to connect that would effectively reset it, sounds like it could be something else

i noticed when hosting under wine it occasionally blocked everyone entering, no idea why, but it did seem to sort itself out on my server at least...

Hmm I tried to enter Nyllys room and it did indeed block me also, wonder what the cause is as it is as you describe, operating from a server.
