Linux Users / Privacy
« on: November 09, 2011, 05:26:12 am »
We need a section on the forum just for Linux users so it will be easier to find support for those using Linux. It would be great to see all the Linux threads migrated over to a Linux section of the forum.  I know it would be very useful for me anyways. I'm going back to Linux on some of my machines now because I know Linux is much more privacy friendly than Windows.  I've only favored Widows in the past because windows is more user friendly. Now that i've taken an interest in programming it seems I'm cheating myself by not using Linux. Also does any Does any Linux users out there have any recommendation on which distros are the most privacy friendly, but also fairly easy to add additional applications as needed? I've used Ubuntu, and OpenSUSE in the past. I had a lot of problems with using Yast with OpenSUSE.  For some reason each time I entered my password to update it would say my password was wrong when I know it was correct.  I reinstalled it 4 times, and I ran into the same problem. I didn't have any problems with Ubuntu, but I don't want to run Ubuntu as a dual boot with Windows because I eventually run into problems with corrupt boot sectors when doing this. So how about it? Any chance on creating a Linux section on the forum? Also whats a good Linux distro for Privacy? If you recommend Ubuntu then can it be used as being the only OS on the machine? Surely it can, but in the past when I tried it I ended up with a dual boot machine.
