@joshua; the 'blue moonlight' theme looks a lot better than the default... its in your account settings under look and layout...

...just dont use it with a browser that doesnt support png properly (namely ie6)

@nylly; please dont change 'blue moonlight' ... its great the way it is...

Sorry Stripes but it's the same in any browser and account settings don't let you change a background colour, or change anything to what I mentioned (not that I can see anyway)

EDIT:
I think it would be best to assume any normal or new user is using defaults

- at top page the enlarge font buttons are not explained (I think it should have at least an "Aa" mark next to it

- these are experimental as the don't keep their setting and will most likely be removed again

Quote
- on the places where you can login there is no longer a "remember login info" button

- that must be a forum setting that has disappeared with smf 2.0 and which I have personally never even seen.

Quote
- the top menu button text does not match the width of the globe images (and they repeat kinda ugly ... last one is cut in half on my screen)

-that depends on your browser window size etc and is not supposed to match

Quote
but most annoying...
- the background of the forum does not match the images of tables anymore, I think the back should be the same colour (black) or the images should be made transparent. (it looks very amateuristic or like a broken forum to me  )

- which browser are you using?  I can't see no difference it's all black to me  and in fact is set to black...
maybe refresh or even delete your cache , I think maybe your browser is still using some kind of old setting?

Quote
- sigs lately seem to come with a scroll ...maybe even avatars do (I'm not sure but I think I saw that somewhere)

- only sigs that are too bi for our current setting come with scrollbars - change your sig and there will be none :P

Quote
Just trying to help you make it look better, that s all ;)

- a little more information about browser/version and OS would've been welcome as I can't check stuff otherwise...

Other than that we can't please everyone and if somebody doesn't like our current theme they're free to use another one.
I'm also open to suggestions for other themes you'd like to see as I've tried to keep modifications to a minimum so far so regular themes should be ok to install.

@nylly; i took a peek at the default theme in opera 11 on xp and the background of the page is a dark grey -- not black ... but is correct in ie8 on xp... ...will do another quick test...

I do know what you mean about the background and table borders not matching as I was trying to set the background to the same color we use on the main page.
That's when I realised the border pictures had black background and reset it to black.

So it's quite possible there's somthing not updated yet somehow as I've set a long expriy for pics and css etc. to keep the site load down and make it loading faster.

Simply try to clear all cached content and reload the page that should put it back to black.

Black is one of the basic color, I don't think any browser could misinterpret that  :walk:

I was using mulltiple browsers to test but hitting F5 did the trick on all of them .. looks fixed now, only one insignificant little funny block is left (not important and hardly visible), I've attached a little screeny for if you really want to know or see where ;)
Quite possible that this is the cause:
Code: [Select]
<td style="background-color: #111;width: 40px;"> </td>
Oooh BTW my OS is found in my signature
Amazing this colour was cached for so long :o

ok, seems I reall overlooked those - should be fixed now.

As for the caching: I set it to tell your browser to keep it fro a long ime so it won't get reloaded every time as these things rarely change.

It will usually sort itself out after a while...

You could wonder why the block is there at all, personally I would have removed it completely in stead of recolour  it might even take the W3C error away ..which would leave only 12 bugs then (ul and mostly images closed wrong) ;)

It looks better eitherway so well done Nilly  ;)

@Stripes ...ctrl R or F5 so many roads to Rome but thanks for the tip :D

Please don't forget that there's a lot of code in the templates that is not being used by all themes.
removing that kind of stuff is exactly what causes incompability with other themes so I've tried to leave it in.
In this case it seems that empty td is there to make up the difference between both corner gif's or something.

Same goes for the ul tags - they're there without any list elements in this theme but are being used in other theses, so they stay :P

The theme we're using was written for smf 1.x originally and it shows a bit but we still wanted to keep it :)

If you change one template it should never affect another (or SMF is a bit stupid?  :D )

Never mind my (re)views Nilly ... all visible errors seem gone or accepted now  and it looks just fine ;)

Found another little thingy concerning the top menubar...

Mouse-hoover makes the whole forum jump down a little, this would be caused by the added border on hoover I guess ;) (only in explorer)

Have you tried F5 again or are you using an older IE version?

I got rid of the obsolete cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 table properties and resplaced with css - which ie up to 7 won't support, but I've stated before I'll stop putting in extra stuff for compability with older browsers :P

I haven't gotten to the other these yet, will do that later as it is fine in IE8 and FF8 :walk:

There are still a lot of those table properties in the helios mulsti theme but it validates as xhatml now.

Technically they're only obsolete in html 5 but I've tried to use css as much as possible instead on the whole site, hence the change here in the forum as well.

Sorry if this causes inconvenient interim issues till everything is updated, guess I'm not quite done yet with it all, hehe.

Actually if I ever find the time I'll probably change the gis to a transparent css sprite, but I'm still renovating, so I'm off to scratch the rest of the old wallpaper off thewall now :)

I noticed the list of validation bugs is shrinking, not zero but pretty close ;) so i will wish you lots of luck with the last fixes and ideas ..I've been a pain long enough now  :D ...believe me I know how hard it is to get it perfect (or close to perfect) :)

and some errors are a matter of choice because one browser will simply work great with them while others are not even affected by them

For me it verifies as xhtml without any errors now.

Oh, and btw - I adjusted the max-height for the signatures so most should show without the scrollbars now ;)
