Soooorrrrrry if I offended.I was just asking questions....seeing if there was anything I could do to help.I read in other threads that the problem was you didn't have enough coders. So, the gist of what I was getting at was seeing if I could help speed things along.I wasn't trying to sit in the back seat and say, annoyingly,  "Are we there yet?".I was trying to find out if there is some way I could contribute to restoring WinMX sooner rather than later.I was up all night on Google reading about things like source codes, protocols, and DLLs.....hence all the questions. Now if I may be so bold as to ask more questions.....is this new client going to be open source(maybe to avoid this whole thing in the future), and if so, would you mind if I try to find other coders to help if there is some piece you could use help on.

the goal is to eventually open source it but the elder client (the one thats in use now) needs to be out of the mix first for reasons of security...

OK, last time I posted on this forum was nearly a year ago.I inquired about how far away you guys were to basically creating a new WinMX.I was told all that was left to do was the transfers management, display, and secondary support side.Well, i'm asking again. How far away are you guys to creating a new WinMX, fixing the old one, or is anyone even still working on it anymore?I ask because I am now bumping up against the limitations of WinMX as it is, and if it's not fixed I might have to stopped using it at some point, which I don't want to do.Can someone update me please?

still being worked on, closer to being finished than when you asked last time.
Last time i spoke with the development team they had finished the transfers, needed to combine everything and do an initial round of bug testing before releasing to the testing group.

Do they have an estimate as to how long it will take?

Take a peek here 0

https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/new_wpn_client_preview.html

All of the items that we mentioned required attention are basically in the bag now, secondary is in there now and transfers are operational with a display, as we have said many times now putting a specific date on any release time is akin to painting a bullseye on your own back , work is still continuing and we hope to have something soon but thorough testing is a sensible priority as the development team want something stable and bug minimised to deliver to you all.

This really has been a long journey for us all but we are in the end phase of bringing the folks something, as you can see from the images we have nearly all we need in place and further progress is made throughout each week and will continue to do so till release date and beyond.

ANTS you strike me as a lonely old man, who has nothing left in life so you resort to bitching and moaning at everything possible. I truly do sympathize that this makes you feel any importance in your sad existence.

Can somebody remove this asshat already please its getting old fast. He offers nothing here, but uses this forum to cast his pathetic negativity upon others

I dont think we need to waste our time on Ants, hes going to look rather foolish when we complete the client, as it is hes been swapping his name to annoy folks in the chat room, truly a pathetic activity.

without sickness, the notion of health is somewhat diminished and without sadness, joy looses its lustre.
Perhaps it is the case that without the sad little minds like ANTS, we cannot appreciate the strength and character of the rest of the community with the respect and care it deserves.

I have wondered for a long time now if ANTS could be one of the attackers just here to try to get a rise out of the members here. ANTS has had an attitude ever since he or she joined the forum. Most forums would have blocked an abusive user like ANTS by now.  Don't pay any attention to ANTS since that's all ANTS seeks is attention.

I find it absolutely disgusting that people feel they are owed anything, or demand this and that, especially from volunteers who give up their own free time working on solutions. I could understand if they had to pay 40 bucks a month for a service or software program and it wasn't up to par, then they have a right to moan. Moaning at volunteers is just plain and simply wrong.  :ugly:

The volunteers don't really care too much what others say. They just carry on with what they are doing and laugh about it

OK.I guess that's what I was looking for....some kind of guage as to where you were in your progress.I figured it wasn't going to happen overnight. That's why I haven't bothered anyone with the "Are we there yet?" question on this forum in nearly a year.If you had told me there was no progress, or you've made a little headway, I would've been like "They're never going to fix WinMX", but if you're telling me that's it's basically done and you're working out the kinks.......well, that gives me hope that one day, hopefully this year, WinMX will return better than ever.

Ok, it's been roughly 5 months since I last checked, so what's the progress report on the new WinMX?

Still working out kinks O, we lost a bit of time with the transfers in fact that took the most time of all and it could still be improved but we need to draw a line in the sand to get a release so we have most of the basic stuff in now as well as a basic chat server and are fixing bugs and adding the small bits some folks have mentioned and trying to get it ready pretty soon as at least when its released the developement team can rest up some.

I have set a provisional release date of the shut down anniversary and hope to bring it to release at that time, its not a 100% firm promise but its a good date to focus on and gives us a little bit more time to get things as good as they can be, it does seem there are always annoying things hiding around the corner but we will do our best to bring home the bacon  :)

When you said shut down anniversary, you meant around the end of September, right? Now that it's just a few weeks away, how are things?Do you think you'll something out by then? Will it include upgrades like removing the 2GB transfer limit and identifying duplicates?
