not able to get into room
« on: December 03, 2005, 06:40:10 am »
Hi I co host in Moviez n Beer room.
Today for some reason no one can access the room. Doesn't seem to matter who opens the room.
were using a wcs file.
I have a router but I have port forwarding
no firewall being used
mx 3.54 beta 4
I've tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to work .. the room shows up in the list but can't be accessed by another other then the host.

thanks in advance

Pinky,

Sounds like your typical port problem, but you say you have forwarded..so

Here are my questions

Are all hosts that have tried using the same configuration for wcs?

What ports did you forward and have you made sure they match your config file?

ok in the config file for wcs which port should I be using??
should it be the same one I use to log on with mx?
I never had to worry about what port before why is it important now?

thanks for any help

You have to have a port set for it, and by default the port for wcs is 3, the important reason is because you have to allow that port in your router or firewall.  3 works ok.. but we have found many of the bots or robo client folks use dont work well in a room hosted on port 3 or any number under 1024.

Ports also cant be used generally by more then one program at a time. If for example the port in your config is port 6699 and your winmx by default is set to 6699 you will get errors and problems..

My best advise it to change your port number on the config to something like 6698.  Then you will need to allow this port for tcp in your routers or firewalls.

See if this change makes a difference for you.. and let me know
