I've done all the settings suggested on the website, when i select the primary connection the light turns green (that's good) but when i go do a search nothing comes up, i wait and wait and still nothing comes up. what is the problem!? I am capable of using the secondary connection, i can download and all, (very nice and quick) but i know i can get faster and better with the primary!!!! I have a T1, xp2, have downloaded the patch for winmx done the setting for the firewall, please whatever i am missing, someone out there help me with it!! i know there's a big need for primary connections, i want to help. my email is ignacio5@yahoo.com feel free to email me your suggestions please. This is more then likely due to a port problem still...

Do you have a router also? or DSL modem?

If so those will also need ports forwarded in them to allow WinMx to work right..

That link will help you get started on the ports in the router or dsl modem...

Linksys Wireless G
Forwarded both 10000 to 20000 in router
Have WinMx in SP2 firewall for 16699 in
and 16657 out and off.
Online P=5 S=0 spm =7637
No chat, no search and no UP or dls.

Will work with Secondary

I have a Westell DSL modem.

I have been tryin to get this to work since recieving patch I have even replaced the hosts files.

ok set your router to two rules for me
WinMx 16699 to 16699 TCP enable for your internal (private) IP
WinMx 16257 to 16257 UDP enable for your internal (private) IP

Also if your going to set that Firewall it must be for TCP port 16699 and UDP port 16257.

In other words on each rule the same port should be used for In port or Start Port and End Port or Out port.

Try this and then get back to me on it...

Mr Brown,

I am thinking that modem may have NAT or router like capabilities, there for you may have to set that to allow IP pass through I believe its called. Obviously you cant use the internet without the modem, but if its possible you may want to try setting rules in the modem for WinMx and bypass the router for a test.

That link you will find your Westell and just choose the model and follow those instructions..

If that works then you may need to call your Internet provider and get instructions on setting up the modem to allow the IP to passthrough, I cant give you specific instrctions on this well enough myself..
