help needed to import open nap
« on: February 05, 2006, 10:16:39 pm »
Hi:

I've been using v 3.31 for years.  Just got a new computer and installed the "new" 3.54beta and it works fine except that I don't seem to be able to import open nap servers using Napmx.  Napmx provides a list of servers as usual but when I export them, they don't appear in Winmx.  How come?  That was never a problem until now.  Alternatively,  if I have my old v3.31 on my old computer is there a way of transferring the open nap server list as well as old "hotlist" to my new computer?
I hope you can follow this.  Any help is appreicated.

Thanks

I believe that saving and transfering your settings.dat file from inside the WinMX folder will do for getting the hotlist transfered to the new mx.

As far as the NapMx I dont have any experience and will let someone that does answer that for you.

It's a while since I played with open nap, so forgive me if this turns out wrong.. what you need to do (I think) is go to your 3.31 machine, export your servers to a .wsx file, save it on the new one or somewhere you have network access to it & use the "import .wsx" function in your new winmx to load the list there.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

Thanks to both of you for this help.  I was able to work around the problem of not being able to "directly" transfer online openNap servers into Winmx from Napmx. I did this by creating a .wsx file using Napmx, putttiing that file into a folder and then importing it using that function in Winmx.

If anyone esle can provide insight into why the new Winmx can't directly import from Napmx, then let me know.

I will also try copying the old settings dat file to get my old hotlist back.

Best regards

I'm a bit hazy on this, not really being an open-nap user, but to get your permanent hotlist entries back it may be contacts.dat you need, rather than settings.
