drops of after a few seconds

hi all
im having a problem uploading and downloading !
searching is fine ,i can que with no problems, but when it connects it sometimes stays at 0 KB or it starts ok then drops of after a few seconds?   im on xp with sp2 with a secondery connection and the firewall is aceppting it.
