How can I use Japanese within WinMX while keeping my system English (United States)?

Heh, just noticed someone asked basically the same question right before me. I've already installed Asian languages though and they display correctly in browers, but when trying to paste them into WinMX, they appear as just question marks. I know of one way to get them into WinMX, but it changes a system setting that makes some programs run in Japanese that I want in English (United States).

Wish this forum had an edit function... What is ieh4f referring to when he says something about loading a WinMX language file?

Is it WinMX > Settings > Appearance > Load Language From File > and then load this file?: httpss://archive.winmxworld.com/WinMX%20Language%20Files/japanese%20-%203.53.txt

Or does that change the interface? I just want to use Japanese in the search field and keep the program/interface in regular English.

Don't you love all these replies?...

Hi Quejikos,

Have a look at these helpful hints on the mixed languages

WinMX doesn't support unicode so it's always going to appear as ??? whenever you try to search by using Japanese in unicode format.
You need to use the Shift-JIS format for it to both display and search correctly.

I would avoid WinXP's input methods personally. I would suggest using NJstar Japanese Word Processor or JWP (both are linked to in the post Coaldust and Vladd referenced), both will allow you to use unicode and Shift-JIS.

I read your ULR and followed instruction to fix setting, but still showing qiestion marks after push the enter key. I don't know what is wrong with it.

If you followed the directions then there's only two things that I can think of off hand that could be an issue. First is that WinMX must be closed and re-opened for font changes to take effect. The second is that maybe you forgot to change the script setting from Western to Japanese?

For copy and paste thing, I actually have another method.  This still requires you to set the non-unicode setting to Japanese.
First, copy whatever Japanese text you want (ctrl-C).  Next, open up character map (accessories/system tools).  Paste your Japanese text into the text box in character map (use ctrl-v), then press "copy".  Now, you can paste that Japanese text into winmx and it shows up properly.
