Okay. I have everything set, using 3.53 version with the 2.2 patch thingy and have set my tcp/udp ports using primary connection and i'm getting no search results what so ever. Please help me.
I'm online, P=4, S=0, SPM=17071.

S=0 tells me your ports are eithere blocked somewhere (check firewall or NAV) or not forwarded from your modem/router (check the documentation for it or www.portforward.com)

I have in the winmx box, it says "patch operational" then it says currently blocking flooders to protect the network. Tell me what this means, please!!!

Have a look here, your making sure that your WinMx is in the permit all catagory of the worm protection.

Also be sure its the ports are set in any XP Firewalls, and that your dsl modem or router has ports forwarded too.

Patch Operational = The patch is working
Currently Blocking Flooders to Protect The Network = Means the patch your using automatically blocks the IPs of the flooders to help protect you and the network.

Me here, i do have ports forwarding, i did the worm thingy and my windows firewall is turned off. I'd appreciate all your assistance so i can luse the primary connection. I do have DSL.

Oh yea. When i'm connected on secondary, i keep losing connection after just a couple of minutes.

Something is still blocking your ports on primary tho mman,

This is evident from the S=0 .. this only happens when either a router, dsl modem, firewall, or norton is blocking the TCP port. Therefor it may be that you need to go back through everything from the begining and see whats missing or set wrong.

The first and most common suspect is the router/dsl modem. Make sure the ports are the exact same as you have set in the WinMx Settings under Incoming TCP and IN/OUT UDP.

Next is to make sure that you have got the correct Internal IP address, modems and routers can reset this number and change it in boot up. You can get your Internal IP by going to Start > Run > type cmd into the line, then click OK.
Then in the black DOS box type ipconfig. Look for your Default IP Address.

Now access your router or modem and make sure that this number is the same as the number listed in your rules for WinMx.

Next make sure that in the rules in the router/modem that you DO NOT have the protocol set to BOTH. Set two rules, one for TCP port and one for UDP port. Set individual numbers for each. Not ranges. They should look like this:
6699-6699 instead of 6600-7000.

Now make sure you go and look at your XP firewall. As mentioned before its capable of re enabling itself at times.

Make sure that your WinMx is both in the allowed programs for the firewall and the worm protection of your Norton.

If your using ZoneAlarm as a firewall, this has been associated with a few folks failing to make a proper primary work. You may consider installing a different firewall and uninstall ZA once this is done. Again thats only if you had it to begin with.

Its often very difficult for us to trouble shoot problems because we cant actually see your set up, so the best we can do is ask you to verify these things are set correctly so that we can help you.

If you do all of these checks and all is ok, but are still unable to get a primary you may want to try bypassing any routers you have. Obviously this is not possible if your equipment is a modem.

I have port forwarding set with tcp:6699 under winmx1 and udp:6257 each end under minmx2. I checked and my ip under cofig is what i put in port forwarding. XP firewall is off and i accepted winmx under worm protection. I guess my router is my firewall. Yes, i do have a modem. I can search/w results under secondary but keep losing connection but nothing with primary.

This may just be a misunderstanding but you mention a 'router' and a 'modem' do you have both?

If so the modem will need to be set to allow the IP to passthrough so that the router is handling the forwarding, if the modem is NAT capable also.

This is getting puzzling ...

We may have to change to WinMx Version 3.54 beta four, this will help some of the disconnections but not all unfortunatly there are so many flooded files on the network at this time causing users to drop. Until we get all primary users on some sort of protection.

You can use either version of MX and the 2.2 patch as long as you are on Win2K or XP.

I would suggest if you dont have a router and modem then we should try this:
Reinstall WinMx using the patch located here:
https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-2.2.exe

This will install the WinMx version 3.54 beta 4 and the patch needed for it also.

Version 3.53 has a known bug that caused more disconnects and they fixed it in version 3.54 so it may help you if we cant get a primary for you.

new here, i i should clarify what i last posted. I'm on a wireless laptop but my wife and i have a desktop that uses the modem. It's connected through cable(dsl).

Yes you leave the ws2_32.dll in the folder but remove the olepro32.dll
Olepro32.dll will cause your newer version of Mx to crash.

Then restart

You delete the Olepro32.dll from your WinMx folder.

The patch wont effect your downloads however you may have to go to Settings > Incoming TCP and reset that to 'Listen on port...' then do the same with IN/OUT UDP ..'Send and receive on port...'

Then restart WinMx ...

Question: For port forwarding, why does my ip address always changing when i go into ipconfig? How can i use port forwarding if it keeps changing?
