Album chart allows downloads from SundaySunday, April 9 2006, 18:28 BST - by Dave WestThe UK album chart will include download sales for the first time on Sunday.Internet purchases have been counted in the singles chart for a year, but traditionally digital sales of albums are less significant.More than 825,000 full records have been sold on the internet so far this year, however, and the rate is increasing. The Official UK Charts Company said the change was important. Omar Maskatiya, the company's charts director, said: "Digital album download data is significant and robust enough to be integrated into the main official albums chart."He added: "With a catalogue of over 80,000 albums available online through legal service providers, the number of digital album downloads will certainly increase."
