For those having large delays connecting
« on: June 15, 2006, 02:29:22 pm »
Many users who are still using hosts files to fix WinMX against the advice of the WinMX experts, may be experiencing large delays attempting to connect to the network, this is caused by your hosts files being out of date. The way to resolve this is:

1. go to https://www.winmxgroup.com/
2. click "Download Now", and run the installer

After you have installed the winmxgroup patch your winmx will connect again.

Please note that these issues do not effect winmxgroup users, these delays ONLY effect users using outdated hosts files.

If you experience any other problems then feel free to join WinMxWorld.com Help_E3D7EFD50D3D where we can help you get connected again.

To get to WinMxWorld.com Help_E3D7EFD50D3D, just hit WinMX Peer Network on your WinMX (if you do not have WinMX, get it from here : https://www.winmxgroup.com/), copy and paste this room name : WinMxWorld.com Help_E3D7EFD50D3D on the black space right of Filter and Hit Join.

You will enter the WinMXWorld Help room where we can help you with any further WinMX setup issues you may have.

Cheers KM for this notice, it seems the host file is so out of date it has become useless

I know many folks will like the updated features of this connection solution, such as blocking fake files as well as preventing the flooders from uploading the fakes in the first place, all in all something to look forward to  8)

It seems the situation is worse than I thought  :(

Many of the pie users are likely to be in trouble if this continues, nothing has been heard from the pie camp so far except this

http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7911

So it seems they are not concerned over the caches being offline.  :x

the latest hosts file they released was outdated ages ago, the 2 caches at the top of that list have been on different IP Addresses for a while (pie hosts file users are still trying to use the old IP Addresses, so fail) - that has caused delays connecting but only an average of 10-15 seconds so they really didn't care as long as it eventually connected... now with a third of the 4 they were using offline and the 4th (which is a home cable connection) barely responding... there are more than a few delays... lol

I have made a point of letting them know when there are problems here perhaps they dont take running the caches seriously enough to bother posting or informing anyone, another way to lose users

Just give it a week, and they will have contracted someone who knows how to use notepad to fix the entries and then someone else to package it into an installer...

Km or one of you that have a good working knowledge of the DILL should go over to slick and  post  in response to Allied's last post.

I see the matter has been dealt with Chuck.

Amazing what folks come up with when they troll on slycks for users for other networks they wish folks to join.

it seems to me that the pie team dont have much smarts cause         if you guys had this problem it would have been fixed ages ago and peeps would still be on winmx and not sitting at there desks pist off

if there is a cache issue for patch users, either the caches would be fixed straight away, or worst case users can be redirected to operational caches (either sabres one, or worst case i do have a couple of "emergency use" ones, but i would rather not use those unless required as the location of those is secret for obvious reasons)

what about pie? "oh well, leave MX there for hours on end and see if that works" and i won't even get started on the lies they have been telling (not just to users claiming there is no way to fix it, but they have even been trying to pass lies on to us in private... lol)

mxpie : the way to connect :

new released 3.1 patch
doesn't use KM's caches (thank God)
takes about 30 seconds to connect

for those still bitchin about being banned, or havin their posts deleted, look what's on this site- the little agreement you agreed to, when you registered:
Quote
Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum.[/qoute]

you agree to not do this..but you for some reason think it's ok on V44 forum?
get over yourselves

Your point was ~¤£ôv뮤Gï®|¤~ ?

Yes I can see the posters IP, Please Read the topic before posting.

I thing the users are savvy enough not to use any patch that only contains the address of a single working peer cache, to do so is like shooting yourself in the foot

Please dont post under different usernames as its rather rude.

lmao don't you look stupid now QS

FYI - that was a friend of mine in town that is here, or is she not allowed to post on your forum at my house?

maybe that should be in the registration agreement lol

don't assume things QS - it's rather rude when you're wrong

Your "Friend" is welcome to post on this forum, I did find it amazing that your friend was posting from your house and advertising pie but stranger things have happened.

I also find your attitude strange when your so ready yourself to decide that winmx users have to only use a flawed patch or stay offline.

I hope readers here can see the sort of activity we have to endure.

i like that you admitted that using your outdated hosts files takes ages to connect, even if you did try to hide it under a different username

yes, hosts files are outdated, this was announced in september, did you not get that memo? probably put it in the shredder instead of on your desk right?

and 30 seconds IS ages... ask any patch user, primary you should get a connection in 5 seconds at the most, secondary 10 at the most, of course it is rarely that long to connect - if you have a patch of course, if you are merely using hosts files it can take longer for various reasons

I,m pleased to announce folks that we are winning the war on flooding, today we have seen another major decrease in flooded traffic and many users are finding that the WPN sharing speeds are improving, I am sure this is due to less wasted bandwidth handling useless requests that time out.

I thank you all in the help rooms and those working on their own to secure the network for us all.

Cheers folks  8)

Its nice to see you agree that blocking flooders is necessary ~¤£ôv뮤Gï®|¤~ .

All users of whatever patch operating blocking are winning the war on Macrovision  8)
