first thing to check is if wine is actually insalled properly, first get the latest wine version from their website and install it (current latest mandrivia one is http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wine/wine-0.9.17-mdk.i586.rpm) you should then be able to run the command "wine notepad" and have it open notepad if it installed correctly

once wine is installed, then just get the latest winmxgroup installer run it with wine, and it should be all go..

nothing loads no notepad etc? wine is probably not installed correctly (those errors are probably important errors not the normal ignore them type) - did you get the errors on the reinstall attempt?

If you have wine 0.9.17 installed you might wanna try an earlier version (0.9.16 is fine)
I'm having problems with wine 0.9.17 and winmx, probably because they replaced the mozilla activeX with their own version.
I can install winmx on it fine, but I see nothing after the splash screen...

if it ain't broke, go fix it?

no idea about win4lin, but crossover i know someone else who uses it, and it seems to be slightly better than wine for some games, but worse than wine for anything else
