Sypware Terminator
This is a brilliant tool for protecting your computer from sypware. An absolutely wonderful tool. Autoscan, scheduling, automatic updates, realtime protection, easy interface. And conservative with system resources. To me it scores on all points and is too good to be true. I included this, as such features on a free and useful application is rare. Many people use antispyware products from piratebay, which more often that not only consume resources and you can't even update the blocklist...
It also includes an optional antivirus that can be integrated in it. I did not use that as avast is good enough. lol
However I would like to add that the firm that makes this antispyware once used to make spyware. So you may have some trust issues with it. But I share the opinion of the user who wrote a review for this that they are then more likely yo more effectively tackle threats.

Tools for converting Tapes into Mp3Smart PC recorder 1.1
This is an absolutely lovely tool that will record audio which you feed into your computer and convert it into Mp3 file. Flawless in terms of working and output quality. The only problem is that this does not allow you to record the sounds higher than 128k. But otherwise, you cannot expect anything more from a freeware like this. This has all the features that any pay recorder has. And from the few pay ones I've installed, they have the following features which this program does not:
they slow down your computer
give a myriad of options to choose from that has no sense what soever, other than increasing the time required for making the file.
You have to pay money for thing that you are probably never even going to use in a lifetime...
There are also numerous freeware audio editing tools available. But I don't think I'll post them as they are not in anyway related to winmx use. But I do have them on my site (the hfs one)

Audacity
Well, this is the zenith of recording audio. You have all the option you'll ever need with this program. It can record in wav, ogg and mp3 with various selections of bitrate and other stuff. Absolutely wonderful.
In one sentence, this project was made in sourceforge. What else can I say to vouch for it's usefulness, simplicity and efficiency
If you are the person who just wants to convert tapes into mp3 and not bother much about bitrate and other stuff, then it's best that you stick to smart PC It gives quality mp3's as well. Else you better get this tool. Too good to be true lol

Icofx 1.5
A wonderful icon editing software. It has all the features in any pay softwares that you might have. It allows you to capture icons and make your own ones as well. Colour schemes right from 16 colours to 24-bit true colours. Icon sizes can range from 16x16 to 256x256 plus custom sizes. What more do you want?
