After I dl a file I listen to it to make sure it's a decent file -- no skips, the complete song, etc. If it's not good I delete and look for a new version.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one checking files though. Do people not care if they are sharing crap or what?

No, your not the only one. There are many users that dont think about this, and the wide spread ability of WinMX.

Many users dont seem to realize how far files travel to other users here, I myself and many I know go through a process before sharing files

We listen or watch them to verify they are the correct file, reaname them if required, and use the MP3 Tag Tool to make sure they are clean tags with no identifying marks of where they came from originally, scan them with virus protection and then..... share them.

Sounds complicated but hey people it only takes me all of five minutes to make sure the files I am sharing are the files you want, cleaned and ready to pass along...If more of us did this it might only take two minutes.. lol

i think the biggest question is, why do they have those files?

if you download a file and its either not the right thing or its incomplete or whatever, why would you not delete the file? it makes no sense at all, even if you dont care about other people getting rubbish files you would still not want to have them yourself right?

I agree - why WOULD someone keep those files. I can't imagine keeping them because they take up space!

What is the MP3 Tag Tool? Renaming, cleaning up, etc I do but I'm not familiar with the Tag Tool. Where can I get it or what do I need to do to clean tags.

I've been going into Properties to clean that up (& I make notes - gdl for good download & From CD if I ripped it myself) but I haven't figured out a way to remove marks of where they came from originally.

Yea the MP3 Tag Tool is awesome .. i love it

Its easy to use, just choose a folder(Directory) you want to look at and then you can choose each song individually and edit the tags and comments placed in them..
