Thanks for that, the first link seems a bit too technical for me.  The second one - I don't think the problem is actually fakes, the main problem seems to be that the search criteria that you enter is just being completely ignored and over-ridden.  No matter what you ask for everything gets returned regardless of what you are actually searching for be it a load of useless indecipherable characters or proper writing, it still has no bearing on what you are looking for.

I tried the OpenNap option last night and the searches are still being corrupted in exactly the same way - the search criteria is being ignored.

quite logical ...if you are still connected to the WPN the searches will still be affected by it... in short ..disconnect from the wpn before doing a search :)

PS.. but if you're going to disconnect from the WPN anyway it may be better to use another/better opennap app ;)

Hey, I use to use WinMX a lot from about 2005-2008 (somewhat in 2009), but stopped around that point. I use to have an account on here, but the email I used for the account was banned because of being hacked. My story basically, hehe...

Hello, Moonshine & Moonshadow  here, I've been away for awhile, looks like things have changed a lot.
If Emma, Reef or Pri read this I would very much like to talk to you.
I was formerly a member in MovieChasers and The Emerald Forest both as an Admin and Host/Owner.
Has the primary software for WinMx been replaced/updated?
I hope this finds my friends and the WinMX community well.
Look forward to rejoining the community.

Moon.

Hi Moonshadow / Moonshine, welcome back  :-D

I know both Pri and Reef are still to be found in the chat rooms, I'm not familiar with Emma unfortunately.

We are working on a second beta for the OurMX client but its slow going, however we hope to release this month when we have gotten all the fixes in place and polished up,  once again welcome back and I'm sure your friends will read this and drop you a line on where they can be found  8)

Ghost and reef thanks for the reply.

What is the best choice for WinMX software at the moment, at least until the new beta version is released?
Although I'm going to be pretty rusty, I was intimately familiar with the software from Frontcodes original version thru to the "community patch".

What software is supported to construct and host a room?
Is a patch of some sort still in use?

the patch still in use is the 'community patch' ... it cannot, however, filter the current attack on the network so if you want a clean network wait for the beta 2 clone client (aka OurMX) to come out.... if you can stand the fluff use the 'community patched' regular client.... most 3rd party tools still work, for those that dont there is a patch on the same page (  https://patch.winmxconex.com/) you downloaded winmx/community patch...
