Audio/Video issues
« on: October 30, 2006, 02:08:43 am »
Some of the TV show files i'm downloading are having issures.  The Audio is running faster than the video, so i'm hearing what the characters say then a minute or so later i actually see them saying it.  Is this a problem with WinMX or is there a way i can easily fix this?

This could either be a codec issue (possibly) or just a heavily loaded pc which isn't keeping up redrawing the video on screen .. which sometimes happens particularly with older pcs with a lot of open programs &/or background processes running.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

Yeah, what beared said.

The codec may not be the exact one used to make the file, or you may have an over worked computer. See if this happens when you first start up the machine and no background things are loading up, then see how they run and sync up.

I've seen this in a viewer that didn't have the proper codec to run the file in sync, but enough to see it.

Weel, i don't think its a computer problem, i just bought a new computer and it has a very fast processor.  And i'm pretty sure the only other program i've had running when trying to watch the episodes has been WinMX.  I'll try sst75tss's suggestion.  If it is a codec problem how do i find out if i've got the correct codec?

I'm not versed well enough to give you specific and up to date, correct info.

I just typed in 'codec +avi' and the first result in google looks promising as a starting point.

avi might not be the answer here  as not all file types are avi

theres lets just say more then a few file types out there now

if you can let me know the file type then i might be able to help you out a little more   also   what player are u using to play your file?

theres 2 major codec packs out theres as of right now

ace mega codecs  ( which is big and has almost every codec i can think of in there )   even though you may not even use 95% of them

and theres

k-lite    (which is smaller but has most of the main codecs in there you will need)

both are free dl's from the net   i myself use ace mega codecs but then i do use my pc for alot of different file types
i would say give k-lite a try first   or maybe even try  vlc player (which is also free to dl)  and see if this solves your issue)

MacDaddy - I'm using Media Player 10 to play my videos and they're almost all avi files.

And here's an update... i tried restarting my PC so nothing is running when i'm playing the video and the audio is still faster than the video.  Also, just out of curiosity i played a few other videos and they are now doing the same thing, even ones i've watched before and they worked fine.

I recently got a new PC and had to transfer a lot of files from my old PC to my new one, could something have happened in the transfer?

Another thing, i got afreecodecVT, its supposed to scan your video file and tell you what codec you need and it says mine are fine.

then try  vlc player

also give some thought to the codec packs i mentioned    just cus the scanner says your codecs are fine dosent mean they are

see how it goes with what i said    u can always remove them if they dont make any difference     :)

and no the moving of your files shouldnt have made them go like that either

The ace mega codecs worked great.  Everything runs fine now, also upgraded to Media Player 11 and they still work great.  Thanks all!
