Pie Patch Fails Leaving Users Offline

Yesterday it was noticed that many FX server room hosts where starting to appear asking for help, this was correctly interpreted by the tech teams as a failure of the pie patch.

More tests where made as this serious situation unfolded and of course wave after wave of users came hunting for the fully working winmxgroup patch.

What became clear was that asking folks to rely on a winmx fix that only has access to a single peer cache it is like playing dice with the deeds to your house, one day you are going to lose out.

The final result of this situation was that many users have changed over to the anti fakes and flooder blocking patch and the network will be more healthy due to having less users being left open to attack the rest of us.

To those who did change patch yesterday, please rest assured that we here at winmxworld and the operator of winmxgroup do our best to watch over the network, backup facilities exist to ensure you wont be left offline in the event of a single failure, also please take the time to run some search results and enjoy the fact that fake listing are a thing of the past, and thirdly we here would like to thank you for taking the time to search out a solution that works and not leave as some will, welcome and enjoy problem free winmxing

I have been a winmx user for some 4-5 years and am very happy that theres people like you out there keeping things running since frontcode went offline,so people can still keep in contact with friends etc.

I had been using mxpie for sometime but as you stated last day or so it wont connect at all and have switched to your patch ... Mxpies days are numbered.Km's patch connects instantly and doesnt drop connection as mxpie did.

Thankyou to KingMacro and the whole team , on behalf of everyone who uses winmx &  for keeping things going for us all..

We did have a 300 + count before we changed forum types from phpbb to smf Sam that was due to the frontcode shutdown so it was expected to be high.

Many of the folks who used to support mxpie now run the winmxgroup patch, the fact it has an active developer is the key to its success as any problems are investigated and resolved in a reasonable time, the others seem to be locked in a time warp, pie did its job but it seems at last the best and most stable type of patch has outlasted the competition.

Well Done KM, the anti-flooding team and the help folks in all rooms, without the many hours put in by you all what was a near disaster was headed off at the last minute and a decent recovery of the network staged, many pie folks did their bit in that recovery and I thank them for that wholeheartedly, the time has now come however to move along and  focus soley on backing the only real winmx solution, that delivered by winmxgroup.

One more thing folks ... Thank you all for being here to read this, each one of you by using the network has kept it alive and growing month on month Cheers from us here to you all

I even had a few ppl im ny room asking about KM's dll and supplied as requested, also afew FXS hosts are now using my modified hosts file to keep their rooms stable, it has all the caches of the dll so compare 19 caches to the single pie cache, i make thta 1900% improvement on staying online, unless im wrong, plz feel free to correct me if i am

the third party patch is much better for patching other programs, a modified hosts file still has the problems of fixed IP Addresses when caches change

you and me both... finally; much less users on pie and more on a patch that works.. or... considering it doesnt work... are there any that will stick with pie?

he is right max... the 'ws2_32.dll' updates itself like the standard patch and doesnt need hosts file modification; tho granted there are those out there who would still prefer a hosts file (for some odd reason)...

i know he is right, and i have the ws2_32 in there, but using that the FXS window & log fills up with "unable to locate hosts file" etc etc, but im just thinking (yes i know its hard to think with 1 brain cell) i wonder if i can rename the ws2_32 to hosts so the server dont fill up my logs with the error message.

The Ws2_32.dll is a system file, meant to be named just that in order for it to function correctly, renaming it will disable it.

You could of course ask Fede to resolve that problem by updating the program so it can handle this small annoyance perhaps ?
