What happened?
« on: November 17, 2006, 02:03:02 am »
A week and a half ago I had no problem down loading files.  Two days ago I could not find a particular tune.  Didn't think anything was wrong as I had the "green light."  Tonight though I checked again and something is wrong.  I have the green light but there are no users out there with any files available.  Has something happened?  I noticed there is a new Win MX 2007 program around.  Is this a new version?

Thanks for your HELP!!!!

Nothing has happened, reinstall winmx from here:
https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-3.0-3.54b4.exe

And try again.
If it still doesn't work out, come back and post here

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)
Patch link :

Spread the word now :)

Hi kessljo1,

The users are all still out there as Sam says however, I would suggest a few things

One check your firewall and make sure WinMX is allowed still, if you have made any changes to the program (upgrades or patch changes) removing it and starting WinMX back up and letting it re ask to be allowed sometimes works.

Two, if you have a DSL modem or Router that needed configuring for WinMX than go through the step and double check everything, often a router or modem may assign a new 'Internal IP' thus making your rules previously set useless..

Three make sure you havnt installed any new spyware, antispam or the like updates lately.. I have seen recently more folks with problems with WinMX and these types of programs running together too..

If you do decide to reinstall please use this link
https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-3.0-MultiVer.exe  (Be Very Sure to Choose Your Current WinMX Version When you Install, or you could find it being blocked by the firewall adding to your problems)

No there is not newer version of a real WinMX then 3.54 beta 4 ether so that other is like lots of scams its prolly Ares packaged with a WinMX name and look....:S

OK.  Thanks for the responses.  I figured out what was wrong.  I forgot that when my friend put in the wireless router, the line that goes into the desktop, goes into the new router.  I checked by putting the connection into the "old" cable modem and it it works just fine.  So, know the question is, how do I configure the new router that connects into the cable modem.  I will get old having to switch everything around everytime I want to use WinMX.  Any help would be appreciated.  The wireless router is a D-link WBR1310.

Thank you

Hi kessljo, visit this website http://www.portforward.com/   click on forwarding (underneath the big yellow and orange arrow near the top of the page)... you'll see a list of different brands of routers.Find your brand and model (hint : very bottom of the page)...click on your model type then find WinMX in the list, click it and it will fully explain how to forward the ports for winmx... Good luck and let us know how you made out with it.
