Open up enough slots so that people can get a good speed. at the same time not too many or too less lol.
Most people give about 8-15kb/upload depending on their upload speed.

Cheers :P

I'll say that it's better your queue is short with fewer slots and fast rather than with many slots and slow.
If you really want to increase (18kb/slots is a very very nice speed. I'll say again that you keep it) Go to settings>queuing and increase the number of slots there.

My Suggestion : Use mxmoniter and make a provision to start people with small files. No point making a person who wants a 100kb file wait while the person in front has a 700 meg movie :)

Cheers :P

Hello, I'm just heard about this 'world' and am glad to see this topic. I realy didn't knew that there was a problem when I tried to download all numbers of a whole album at once.

Sorry It should be: Hello, I'm new. And I've just ... etc.
Is that why I can't download from some WinMX users?

if your new and only have afew or no files, you will get ignored by users with mxmonitor, because some people will be on here for years and shre 0 files yet try to download as many as possible, we call this leeching and some people still do it, they don't "share" so you probably fall into that catagory untill yo have afew more files,

on the other hand some people cant seem to get the firewall or router settings right or some don't let others download off them because they are leeching and stopping downloads.

its not always easy to know which is the reason unless its obvious like sharing 0 files constantly or having no upload slots when people que up are refused.

Hello Max, no I am not realy new at WinMX but I am new at this world. I share maybe a 350 files. Only this weekend we had a problem with the computer and I could not share at that time... But we resolved that problem as soon as I saw that...
But is there a way you get 'unblocked'?

Hi mate,
if you mean unblocked when a user blocks you, changing names works until they ignore/block you again,
i have had people download off me and when i try to download off them it goes red and i pm them to find im ignored, thats another way they leech, as they connect to you they ignore you so you cant download off them or contact them,
but the worst has to be the people that use the  0 of 0 available hack, one tried d/l off me and his whois showed 0 of 0 and 100 in his que and obviously no intention of starting the 100 waiting but wanted more off others, showing files to look generous but as ignorant as they can get.

If someone has MXM running. It will serach everyone that enters there queue. If you are sharing 0 files. MXM will block you until you share some files or MXM is closed.

MXM = MXMonitor

How can I let someone who is waiting for a small file jump the que. I keep changing my uploads to between 3 & 4 but they are usually taken by people wanting .avi files. "Chocolate God" stated he uses "Auto Start" to allow it - could you please tell me how I do that.

Hi Melody,
there's a small program that runs along with WinMX called MXMonitor,
it will look for people with 0 files trying to d/l off you, you can set it to auto ignore very low speeds so someong on say 14.4K dial-up dont take a month to d/l a movie off you, you can also set it up to auto start on small files or pic's like desktop wallpaper and text documents etc by seting file size (eg: 1800 bytes) or type (eg: .txt .jpg .jpeg)

have a look at this tutorial as it explains with diagrams too Click Here For Tutorial

there is a download link on that page or Click Here To Download MXMonitor

Hi Max, thanks again for your reply. So do I understand correctly that the MXMonitor checks every time and that the list changes or is it so that when your name is on that list you get blocked till you change your name...?
But it seems to me that there are unwritten rules different for every user. Some except four downloads, others two and when you try more you get on the list... how do I know what to do?

If your WinMX ID changes (the last five digits on the end of your name) this should get you around those Ignore lists.  Everyone is different and yes thats hard to know what to do.. 'Most users' will allow at least 3 in a que of things.. or you can send them a private message and ask them whats ok, lots of times they will appreciate you asking.. you can also read.. in many, but not all, the browse has a message in it telling you how many its ok to que for at a time.  People dont 'want' to ignore you for multiple file queues and usually will inform you what the limits are.

One good tip if you find several files to que for and you cant ask them or dont get a reply is this:

Go to Settings > File Transfers > Queueing >  Set your Max Downloads per User to 3.  (pretty safe number) and then que up for them all.  Your fourth, fifth, sixth..etc file choices will turn Royal Blue and say Locally Queued.  Then as the others finish they will remotely que on the person.

Hi Max,
1) You suggested I install "MXMonitor" but I've read posts on this board where people have had problems with MXMonitor. Can it be uninstalled without losing any files if I have any problems?
2) People are uploading from me at the moment. Should I wait until they finish to install it?
3) Do you suggest installing "P2P Revolution" also?

(Sorry you've decided not to visit downunder!)

Hi Melody,
MXMonitor checks everyone that joins your que for downloading to see if they are or are not allowed to download off you, EG: you set to minimum files 1 anyone wil 0 files will be auto cancelled and added to your ignore list, if someone changes name or ID as Me_Here said and rejoin your que MXMonitor will check anyone as they enter your que.
it helps you control who downloads off of you but now how you download off other people.

MXMonitor can be uninstalled easy and you wont loose any files as it does not check your files, it only monitors and checks whois when someone wants to load off you, most people don't have a problem, its the odd few that it can play up for, why we don't know because its not a wide spread thing we can check, but it is safe to uninstall.

oops, you was posting as i was sorry,
its best to close WinMX when you install MXMonitor, there is a feture that when you start MXMonitor it auto starts WinMX for you.

personally i have never used p2p Revolution, so i can not comment on this, i'll leave that to the experts that have used it.

The P2P Revolution site was a HASH data base that you could find a hash, select it, and it would be added to your WinMX Transfers screen to find sources.  It was a early attempt to combat fakes.  The site has since been closed reopened..etc.. its run by Vladd whom I know longer have any faith in and its not upto date.

I wouldnt recommend it at this time..

Here is a problem that I have encountered several times in the past few days.  After selecting a file for downloading,  I have had several of the indivuals message me that they will not allow me to download their files because I have to use 56k.  56k is all that is avible in my area.  But the problem that really gets me is that at the same time there telling me no, they are uploading files from me.  I have been told by these indivuals that I should restrict my setting to 56k only.

well to be honest, and this is my opinion, why are they still downloading off you when you are too slow to be able to download off them? this looks a little 1 sided and mean on their part, using 56k as an excuse when they are happy to take what you have, if they did the same to me, i'd cancel their downloads off me, if they want 1 way traffic let them do it elsewhere, it just another way of leeching.
