Okay folks until further notice of some sort of changes in the present condition of WinMX we are going to be in these two places.

Wild Thing has been kind enough to set us up a room on Ares called WinMXWorld.com on Ares.

We are also telling folks to have a look at Filetopia as its a small network, and encrypted so its safe.

Here is my room name and a friends room name. We'll all have to bann together and do our best to stay open as long as we can. I will not shut down untill it forces me to do so. Hope this comes back soon. But I can see its still up in the air as to whether or not this is permenate or tempary.

Since I used to be a big part of the teen community I'm debating on whether or not to put up a temp room for everyone to take shelter in.  I will put it up if feedback is left and remain without if it is not.

the only person that shut down winmx, was the same person that put winmx up, i personnaly dont blame him, for that it is not his/her fault, the riaa has sent sevral threatening letters to different sites, so you can imagine the rest, no one can bring winmx back up except the same person that took it down, so all we can do now is eiter : find a new site, pray for god for it to come back up ( myself i dont think it will ), or all but not least, be happy ( like i am ) for all the things i ever got off winmx and because winmx was there befor, it brought a lot of ppl good things, and no one can blame anyone for this site going dow

Hell no I don't balme them either.  Let a huge ass goverment backed corporationg like the RIAA come knocking on your door.  What are you going to tell them to go do suck a lemon?  Hell no your gonna log in yours pants.  The only possible outcome for this if Frontcode does not switch WinMX back on is someone will get ahold of WinMX, start a new peer cache server, and rewrite the executable so that it connects to the new peer cache server.  I suppose KM or someone like that would be responsible for writing the app to direct it to the new server.  But even if a new one did go up, they too would just recieve cease and desist letters so whats the use?  I say if there is no other option here that WinMX fo entirely to a chat app.  Someone needs to take over the project.  WinMX has the best chat interface and user friendly enviroment I have ever seen.  And WTF could they do then?  "Yes your honor im guilty of chatting with my friends online.  What't that your honor?  25 - life for violating the first amendment.  What's that your honor?  Your going to upgrade me to the death penalty if I don't reimburse thousands of dollars for all the foul laguage I used??"  :roll:

And BTW it's not like too many people use WinMX anymore for downloading so that would be the perfect solution.

Can get to rooms if have in Favorites or address communicated to you.
Searches pn secondary are out. Primary if not connected.

As we have mentioned you can access rooms via a favorites list or from some one giving you the name as you can see many many ppl have been kind enough to do here.

Look through the posts here copy and paste any rooms you want into your filter bar and join.
