Setting up a Opennap Network
« on: January 04, 2007, 03:25:34 am »
Well since i have opened my nap server i have decided to set up a small site for the group that i am intending to create called
Gangster Movies. Not very original as some will know that is the name of my room on winmx but i thought it was a good step forward for my room, and also healthyer for winmx/opennap as a whole. What my intention is is to get a group of servers set up and then register with the likes of gotnap, but for now the intention is to make it really a small comunity mainly consisting of invites till we have a strong enough reliable group of servers to advertise and be noticed in the opennap community, Now i have recived alot of help and support from fellow interested partys beloning to winmxworld and i want to ask here first for interested partys to see if they would like to set up a server. I have been working on and will continue to work on a help guide for installation of the server and i will make it freely available to interested partys. Please let me know below and i can start getting the ball rolling. :P

Well my nap server has been online as a public server for a week now. Before then it was private and was just in its testing stage but i am now online 24/7 and started advetising on gotnap. Now in one week my server is 90% full and im runing out of room, i keep extending the amount of users that can join my server and im swiftly runing out of ram.

Now i never imagined that it would get so much interest so quick and i asked about if someone would like to join my network. Well necesity has took over and i dont want it to become where i have to start impossing limits so as to cut back on users. My firm belief is that everyone has to start somewhere and stopping the newbies is not what i want to start doing.

So if anyone has, or is interested in hosting a napserver then please get in touch. I will help you set the server up and give you tips and pointers with pleasure, your server doesnt have to be on 24/7 if you can only host at weekends that would surfice for now as that is when the peak traffic is and i am sure that next weekend i will be turning people away if nobody steps forward.

                              Thanks in advance Tiny

400 users may not be a computer issue, maybe a router issue, i know i had problems with my router, which one you got?
