Downloading 'illegally' GENERATES revenue

I did a mini survey about 2 years ago which proved this and I would like the RIAA and MPAA or any other authority to also exercise this same survey.

Personally, whilst having watched numerous movies that I have not paid to see, many of these I would not have gone to watch at the cinema anyway (no loss of revenue,) and the ones I did enjoy I BOUGHT.  In the past 2 years I have PAID FOR over 200 DVDs; almost all because I had chance to preview them first.

Ask these 2 questions and decide whether p2p is good or bad...

1. From the CDs / DVDs you have PAID FOR, how many are because you had the opportunity to preview the material first?

2. From the CDs / DVDs you have 'PIRATED', if you were unable to download them, how many would you have actually bought?

My survey showed that a HUGE proportion of peoples’ collections were as a result of downloading and that the pirated material they would have paid for was significantly lower, and in many cases zero.

Conclusion: 'piracy' pays, and the RIAA and MPAA etc should be supporting p2p not opposing it!!

Please note: from the top 20 ALL TIME grossing international BOX OFFICE takings (not even DVD sales,) 15 are since we have been able to download efficiently.

Blackwolf--the quesiton here is who did you give htis survey to? how many people were surveyed? "100% of the people I surveyed believe that drusg shoudl be legalized!" What we dont' know is that your survey was made entirely of drug users. The same thing may well be happening here.

@ Lysander ... i am not asking OPIONS of the people who prefer to partake in an activity, i gathered facts from the very people this survey could have damaged.  however, i wouldn't worry yourself about things like this - stick to your drugs

no true facts or true stats to work from   who did you ask to survey users of mx or a public poll ?

public poll no web site to even look at to even say yes or no
 as in mx i for 1 did ny off some sorts  take part

so before this goes into a flame war  if you going to do a survey  stick to TRUE FACT AND STATS
 with a true number off users /public vote and you SHOW how you come about theres facts
other wise its just anther riaa/mpaa propaganda mouth peace
