Preventing Uploads By User On Multiple Servers
« on: November 14, 2006, 04:23:00 pm »
This thread was started on WINMX Upload/Download problems. I frequently see the same file being downloaded by the same user from multiple servers. When I cancel them, they're quickly put back in the queue. This  results in unecessary network traffic, and prevents other users from downloading.
Can MXMonitor add a feature to Ignore multiple requests for a file from the same user? I don't want to injure users who queue up requests for different files, and wait their turn. Thanks.  :x

That would be loverly if it was possible, however, at this time the folks that made MXMonitor have stoped production and not making any changes.  So we are stuck with living with what we have and doing the best we can with it, a pm message to said users (that you dont want to completely ignore) is the best way.. have them set that file to auto find sources - Never and then stay in your que the one time for the one copy.. best answer to date.

Typicially, I'll let them download the file once and then I'll ignore them completely. That way, both people are happy. They get the file and your queue is free from them as well. So babysit when you can and leave the rest to MX :)
The snag is however that you will have to keep ignoring them in many servers.... Most people try from 4-5 but the more persistant ones will try from 10-11 of them as well...
(Idiots :lol: Even I get frustrated sometimes.... ok ok many times... ;)    )

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

* KM suggests a bigger HD ;-)

opennap users seem to go for the smaller files - on opennap the small files lock up my queue, whereas on the WPN the larger ones fill my queue

Many opennap users use lopster and that client constantly seeks the files entered in search on all servers and automatically enters any users que it finds. It pays no attention to users names, it seeks filenames only....and yes it is very annoying and keeps some users from using opennap
