I am using microsoft Vista Ultimate. I installed WinMx from www.winmxgroup.com and I haven't had any problems. As soon as I downloaded it I copied and pasted that random file into the system folder. I can download and upload piece of piss. I get a listing and I don't lagg or anything. So no problems. I'm using a Dell SC430 small business server pc as a home pc. It works great with Vista, never going back to XP again =]

The file wasn't being uploaded to anyone at the time the download finishes
and it doesn't rename i left it overnight it still said ___incomplete___with a bunch of numbers after the song title.

go to the properties for the folder your downloads are being saved to and check the security settings, make sure you have full access... although having access to create files but not rename them would be rather odd

I dont care to post my specs, as I dont really see what's the difference is.
But using Windows Vista Home Premium,
just downloaded the patch and it works perfect.
But I had to delete my settings files before it worked, dont know why.

(c:\program files\winmx\colors.dat,
c:\program files\winmx\lib4.dat,
c:\program files\winmx\settings.dat)

cheers for the patch, thanks :)

Snowqueen there is no need to post several messages for help here.  Its a forum board not live chat so you will get help but you need to be patient.

If your having problems with Vista disconnecting frequetnly please READ this post and follow the directions there.

https://forum.winmxworld.com/index.php?topic=4360.msg26410#msg26410

If your having problems with uploads or downloads not working then you need to make sure your Vista Firewall is allowing WinMX and any other firewalls you may have.  You may also need to forward ports in a modem or router.  Those posts about that should be in the Uploading/Downloading section here:

https://forum.winmxworld.com/index.php/board,1.0.html

What don't I get... I d/l'd the .dll patch, when making a secondary connection I get connected, negotiating, and then it cancels the download.  I have already opened ports 6699 and 6257, so it's not that... :(

That sounds like it could be an ISP issue

the best thing for you to do I think is to come in to the winmxworld chat room and do some upload/download tests with someone.

Chat rooms name is: WinMXWorld.com Help_A06F7657BABE

kilo mike, hello. been using home premium since it came out. only two or three times has winmx bit the dust for a minute or two.
i don't run much stuff on  this unit. it's a gateway mx6214, just stock bottom of the food chain laptop. had it couple months b4 the upgrade to vista.  hooked into a webstar cable modem (can't make any adjustments to that)  anyway i just exchanged the dll file and it's still working the same. no complaints. winmx is still kickin some major butt.  thanks again.

Hi people, I've been running Vista for Two months now and the only problem I get with WinMX is when I'm downloading from bit torrent. It seems to interfere with WinMX and either boots me or causes an error and needs to close. Not a major problem but a problem none the less. Any thoughts on this are welcome.

The problem with bittorren is that it makes too many connections with other users, thuis causing winmx to lose connection...
Use u torrent, you can limit the number of connections in it (per torrent), therby eliminating your problem. It works for me quite well...
You can use TCP view to see the number connections it makes...
It makes the problem quite clear

Cheers :P
Reconnect to winmx with the blocking patch :)

Will it speed up WinMx? People uploading from me can only get upto 2K/s each! (They could get upto 25K/s each in XP)
