Routers and ports

I have downloaded version 3.53 and 3.54beta,which I uninstalled 3.54 and reinstalled 3.53. Now ,I have a DSL connection with a primary
connection,but I cant seem to get nothing downloaded and do you need a router ? Why ? I only have 1 computer and have no use for a router. I have tried downloading and it sometimes stops and goes red,then sometimes it stays blue for awhile,but I am having problems getting it to speed up. How can I fix this and how do you adjust the throttle or bandwidth? What should I set it to? My computer is a
Windows Vista Basic Home and I just switched to DSL today because I thought maybe I could get music to download faster,but I have had no luck. Geez this is really confusing trying to figure it out. Could someone help please?

Hi Datmo,

Thanks for coming to the room to visit us.  As we talked about there that DSL modem of yours is staight modem not NAT, and your Auto Enter Que settings are corrected now.  Im not sure the exact things Data went over with you but you also have the bandwidth page and I hope that has helped also.   I  think since you did make some changes to things and got help from Data and Jo, maybe I'll let this post lay, until we hear from you updated info...

Thanks Me Here and well it has started downloading,but is still slow. I have downloaded a few songs so farr. I also put my connection back to primary because the secondary kept disconnecting.
