Can anyone help me get this to work right...
I have an OLEVIA 27" 2 Series LCD HDTV and an older emachines running xp. I can't, for the life of me, get the video settings right. Every time I play a movie in windows media player or with VLC it stretches...
Any idea what settings I need to use? I've tried em all I think and I don't mind black bars at all, I just want the characters on the screen to look normal instead of stretched out... any ideas on how I can make the player fit the screen properly?
this tv is SUPPOSED to double as a monitor.

I was just wondering besides media player and VLC have u tried anthing else?

No, those are the only two players on that machine. I just use it for movies and tv shows. it's not connected to the net.

make sure you have the actual monitor drivers for it "Default Monitor" or "Plug & Play Monitor" may not work right....

most monitors have drivers which define what resolutions & refresh rates they support... with something widescreen (as a tv with monitor capability is likely to be) it's important to have thedriver from it's manufacturer (see their website) and also the most current driver for your video adaptor (see their website) once you have all thew right drivers you should be able to match up resolutions etc so that things display right.
