Winmx "Whois" has stopped working for me. The bar will show the user at the top but the normal box giving information on the user no longer appears nor can I close the bar. It stays put until you exit MX.
Have re-installed winmx. I used the old .dat files in order to restore the old settings. Do you think I have a currupted dat file perhaps? And which one?

right click the winmx icon in the tray and select the option : "reset all windows"
if you use mx moniter, then sometimes, closing it and reopening mxmoniter also helps...

Just to let everyone know, he came into help room and I got him taken care of.

I have had this issue before too, the whois box comes up, it is just off the visible boundaries of the screen... dunno what causes it, but it usually happens when running MXMonitor, but not always...

Solution:
click on the whois tab to make it active
press the ALT key once
press the down arrow to make the context menu come up for the whois window
arrow down to 'Move'
hit enter and you will get crosshairs along the edge of the screen that the window past
use the arrows to slide the window back into veiw and hit enter

DO NOT USE YOUR MOUSE DURING THESE STEPS! Or you will have to start again...
The mouse will make you loose your positioning

what does it do, put them all at 0,0 coordinate of the main window?

lol Scyre then do it and find out.. it wont break anything.

basically it sets all windows to the installation defaults, as for what its coded to do.. ask someone like KM.. lol

I believe it makes all open windows in winmx come to the centre of the winmx screen and the winmx window is restored down
the windows come to the centre of the screen
This is all I recall since the last time I used it

it's simple, it resets the windows, exactly like it says

winmx stores the last opened position of different types of window, that's what actually causes the issue because on XP with the teletubby theme turned on the windows are all messed up and it gets the position very slightly out, eventually after enough windows have been opened and closed that tiny bit it's out by adds up to a position off of the screen - the reset option just resets it

well considering it's only on XP, and I have never ran XP on any of my systems as the primary OS (only in vmware systems, or brief 2 hours to test something) - i don't use it...
