It'll download, but it won't run.  Also, the links to the Sherwood deal in the other forum are broken.  What gives?

And unrelated to that the New patch file is large so it was taking to long to download.. its beed reset to download faster.. anyone that had troubles with it please try the WinMX Group site again...

ntdll.dll

The beta 4 worked just wonderfully from the start till this morning, when it started crashing. So I installed the new 1.9 version - and since then it's been crashing even more steadily, with drwatson throwing up the ntdll.dll error (which I've never had before this).

I'm able to connect and search, but right-clicking on any file  causes winmx to crash. The hosts thing doesn't solve anything, either. Nor did a clean re-install work....

Confusion !!!!
« Reply #46 on: October 16, 2005, 07:31:31 am »
Greetings, I started with Mx just before the crash, did not know what to do when it happened, got on to Vladds site. When it all started up again I did as requested,uploaded ALL the patches, ran as a primary, 0 files shared,with Peergardian,at my max bandwidth 15 out/22.5 in to help get things started. Then I was told to share again so I did!! Now I don't know if I am running the right patches, if all the adjustments to 3.53 are right or not. I am able to d / l and u / l sometimes connections "Time Out". Still don't know who to believe or what about sharing,settings,etc. Wish I had a guide on how to properly set up (All Settings) and operate WinMx 3.53.  :?  :?  :?  :?  :?  :?:  :?: One Confused Kricket !!

Relax Kricket if your up and running then take no action  :)

Continue your normal sharing uploding etc, the network is a bit heavy with flooders but activity keeps it healthy and strong, and also attracts more folks back to us.

Try a look at our tutorials section by following the link at the top of the page and you,ll find many interesting articles to read.

( timing out indicates fake sharers so look at the one on that too )

Hi,

I run as a primairy for some month now. Maybe since 6 month before the "crash", maybe more.  I'm behind a router (with an integrated firewall) all configured correctly.  My connection is câble at 5.1Mbps down and 820 Kbps up.

But, i just can't run WinMX 24/24 because i have a mensual limitation of 20 Go down and 10 Go.  And WinMX can use it all in 2 to 5 days if i let it do on it's own (AFS & AEQ; note that i'm using the french translation becaused it is my first language).  And i must wait 24 hours or so to see on my ISP website where i am in my limits.

By the way, i'm trying to "pass the words" about WinMX resurection like you asked somewhere around here.

See ya folks.

Allocated Bandwidth setting amount table per day for primary connections.

Amounts worked out if primary connection is operating at a 100% on the WinMX network for 24 hours with no downloads or uploads.

7 KB/s out 10.5 KB/s in (56 Kbps - 84 Kbps) (default setting in WinMX)
Upload = 604.8 MB
Download = 864 MB

8 KB/s out 12 KB/s in (64 Kbps - 96 Kbps)
Upload = 691.2 MB
Download = 1.0368 GB

9 KB/s out 13.5 KB/s in (72 Kbps - 108 Kbps)
Upload = 777.6 MB
Download = 1.1664 GB

10 KB/s out 15 KB/s in (80 Kbps - 120 Kbps)
Upload = 864 MB
Download = 1.296 GB

11 KB/s out 16.5 KB/s in (88 Kbps - 132 Kbps)
Upload = 950.4 MB
Download = 1.4256 GB

12 KB/s out 18 KB/s in (96 Kbps - 144 Kbps)
Upload = 1.0368 GB
Download = 1.5552 GB

13 KB/s out 19.5 KB/s in (104 Kbps - 156 Kbps)
Upload = 1.1232 GB
Download = 1.6848 GB

14 KB/s out 21 KB/s in (112 Kbps - 168 Kbps)
Upload = 1.2096 GB
Download = 1.8144 GB

15 KB/s out 22.5 KB/s in (120 Kbps - 180 Kbps)
Upload = 1.296 GB
Download = 1.944 GB

Oh!
Did i forgot to mention that having a router was for sharing the connection with two others computers. So i can't control all that transit from or to the Internet by our connection.  And, this connection is also used for gamming and sometimes two computers at a time.

I must reserve at least 2 Go up and down per month for normal Internet usage (web sites, email, Messengers, gamming, etc.)  Beside, i still have some reluctance to run it without doing any download.

Some people in my «country» are "fighting" so that our ISP finnally accept to raise limitations.  But, that won't happen soon.  They say that we're not supposed to used our connection 24/24 7/7 because it might cause «difficulties» to others clients like a lower performance of the service.

Did i mention that english is not my primairy language ?  If not, i think you all can see it now.   :P

it still surprises me that an ISP is more than willing to take peoples money for a service, then impose limitations because they can't actually provide the service to everyone who is paying for it...

Yes.
And the most shocking thing about it for me his that they prohibate simple residential user to do a web server at home.  In fact, they don't want any type of server (HTTP, FTP, POP, SMTP, ect).
They also are blocking somes ports so that people outside that ISP network can't see our server if we try to make one.

Yes.
This compagnie is like a child of a bigger one called QuébécorMédia that is rule by the infamous child of the richest dead guy of here (left in heritage).
Money, money, money.

Hi Thebaron666,

Welcome to the forums..

Sometime the problem may be all the fixes you have attempted.
So this is what I want you to do for me..

First I want you to insure that we start fresh...any previous fixes you have used can either be moved to a new folder you make to save for a back up or deleted completely.

1) I want you to download this original hosts file that comes with standard Windows operating systems

https://www.winmxworld.com/files/original_hosts_file.zip

2) Unzip that to your C;\Windows\system32\drivers\etc folder for XP
or C:\Windows folder for 98/ME.

3) Now I want you to uninstall WinMX, if you want your settings to be saved all you need to do is save the Settings.dat and the library.dat file from your existing WinMX folder into that new folder I asked you to make.
Delete any short cuts to WinMX your using now. Desktop or Start Menu ones.
After you uninstall WinMX, please verify that there is now folder in C:\Program Files\WinMX

4) Now I would like you to redownload the Install 1.9.exe from here:
https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-1.9.exe
Reason for redownload, a few folks didnt get a full download due to the size and speed of the download.
This file should be approx. 1.3MB in size on completion of download.

5) Now reboot the computer for me at this time.

6) Now run the Install 1.9.exe and make a clean installation of WinMX on your computer for XP or 98/ME.

7) Once this has installed if it connects fine for you at his time then you done and ready to use it.  You can now add your settings.dat and library.dat files to your new folder of WinMX to get your settings back.

8.) If your using XP and it doesnt connect I want you to shut down WinMX and do a dns flush:

Start > Run type in 'cmd' then hit OK
Then in the dos box type 'ipconfig /flushdns' and hit enter.

9) Now restart your WinMX

Let me know how this went for you

Have opened ports 6257 and 6699, made primary connection but cannot search, download, upload or anything.  On secondary connection still cannot upload or download.  I use XP, have Sipura model SPA2100 but cannot figure out how to port forward to see if that would work.  Any suggestions?

Do you have something called "Virtual Server" in the router config page ?
'cause if yes, that is what is needed for WinMX.

Be sure to recheck your firewall especially the XP ones as we have had a lot of folks lately that have found a firewall has be reactivated after they thought it was off.

Also be sure to check that your router or dsl modems have the correct ports for WinMX forwarded.

Then be sure to go back to your WinMX settings and enable the ports that you normally use.  Some folks had to reinstall mx after they thought we were doomed and the set up tcp connection test failed, leaving them set to unable to recieve or send on TCP and IN/out UDP..
