Phaedophile Chat Room Filesharers Arrested

In an announcement today on UK television it was revealed another global group of paedophiles had been taken into custody, this is of course good news for all.

Police have smashed a global internet paedophile ring run by a 28-year-old British man who was today sent to jail indefinitely.
Around 700 suspects - 200 from the UK - were identified in 35 countries during the operation. Some are still being pursued.

Offenders used a web chatroom called Kids The Light Of Our Lives to swap photos and videos of horrific abuse.
Judge Peter Thompson said Cox posed "significant risks" and had to be imprisoned for "for public protection".

The court heard he lived with his parents and sister in their large farmhouse in Buxhall, Suffiolk, and worked at the family's micro-brewery.
He operated the website from his bedroom using the pseudonym "Son of God", a reference to another online child sex pervert.

I hope that this is the last time we see this sort of vile and sickening trade occuring on this network, lets be quite clear about this they are repulsive to normal users of winmx and society at large, I thank those users who made complaints to the authorities on behalf of us all and wish to express the entire communitys thanks to the authorities who have in this case acted speedily to shut down this group of evil folks who prey on the most innocent in society.

I saw the news clip and instantly recognized the MX format. 700 sickos down and hopefully they'll be arresting loads more. I love filesharing, but if I ever spot a user with some dodgy-looking files either if I'm uploading or they're downloading, they get the automatic cancel and block.

I dont think this thread is the sort for making light of child abuse, another time or place with another person perhaps it could be funny but when backdropped against the sexual molestation and in some cases rape of young children your comments are offensive.

I am just glad they have caught these idiots! The sad thing is there are millions more in the world! After readin this me and my co host have decided not to take porn so lightly and how people like to relabel files. We used to allow all porn except kiddie porn in our room however we have came to the conclusion that we do not want any porn in filescfrom this day forward! Lets let people like this know we are the majority!

Why would the police "be doing anything about mx ", this is a P2P network and I am certain the users of it are as disgusted with seeing sick content in folks shares as the police are when they arrest them.

Whilst it's great that the police are taking the time to round theses people up we musnt forget they have been arrested like this on many other networks and seem to find new ways to continue their activities online regardless of the public reaction to it.

In my opinion its issues like this that stop many using some of the more encypted networks, many fear that to do so would be helping the paedos anonymise their trafic, lets be thankful that this network is mostly self policing with regard to stopping this crime, the users complain, the police act, global society wins.

1.> No one complained
2.> Are they in the same country as the caches
3.> This is a grey area of the law
4.> Will take  damn lot of time in court....

I think its important to note:

In the last year we've heard 2 stories of major networks of pedofile rings or rooms being taken down that were based on WinMX.  Well think about this for a moment.

Every p2p network with a chat community faces this problem unless its a centralized system and therefor can be policed more regularly.  They are out there, there is no getting around it.  So if they are out there on almost all networks.. why is it we dont hear more stories of them being taken down like this one? 
Could it be that most communities are not as willing to take them down..  turn them in.. do something about it? 

I would also like to remind people that your believing the RIAA propaganda when you talk about the fbi or police investigating p2p networks for file sharing.  They would love for you to think copyright infringment is a criminal offense and there for the FBI or Police's problem.  It is not!!

Copyright infringment is a civil matter and the laws are differnt in many countries (all be it, the RIAA/MPAA would love to be the world collection ..opps I mean police of such and make it a criminal offense punishable by the death penalty.  after your fines are paid of course to their fat wallets)  If you are still unsure call the police and tell them your nieghbor has copied your intellectual works and see what they tell you to do.. they certainly wont waste thier time on it as they have no role in the civil justice.

If anything I'd like to think the police and child safety enforcement offices are glad to have concerned citizens like the ones that have taken action and reported these sick criminals from WinMX.   I my self have reported plenty and have no fear they are concerned with whether or not i might be infringing some ones intellectual rights when a childs life is at stake.

I use to host a nap server for a brief spell. during that time thier was the such traffic to find on their, it is everyhwre, and as it is a shock to see that winmx was a tool that aided them and to be honest seriusly gutts me to think of it i think ghost is right, thier is nothing we can physicly do to stop it. all we can do is keep reporting the odd file we may come accross to the right authorites. I assure you i do it every time i see one and i was giving 3-4ips a day on the nap server to the authorite's.

winmx isn't illegal, and only idiots would suggest it is - so what do you think they should "do" about something legal?

just because winmx can be used for illegal purposes does not mean they are somehow allowed to just shut it down because of that - otherwise they would also have to "do something" about hands, they can be used to kill people after all so they should start chopping them off
