All hosts files have been updated for optimization so please try them again.. this includes manual installs from the zip or the auto patcher.

Trying to get it figured out down here in mexico. I had to forward ports got those rollin. Little bit different configuration than my stateside system but I think I got her fingered out ok. Will try to download host. Because at the moment the winmx aint workin.

In case anybody is still having problems:

First do the autpchanger hosts file trick (make sure you don't have winmx installed anymore!) and then download and install from following address:
https://www.winmxgroup.com/Install-3.0-3.54b4.exe

It's still working

... KM only replaced the index page.

Only use this as a last resort! All your prefs WILL be deleted when using this method.

update from mexico. I got winmx up and running. first I got the (hosts?) and downloaded it to specified dir. windows\system32\drivers\etc. once that was done closed everything down rebooted and wallah. When I get back to Cali I'll probably have to go thru this one moe time on my other computer.
Keep up the great work wizards of winmx. I for one am very grateful for all the behind the scenes hard work ya'll do. Probably speaking for most, we really have a great thing in Winmx and I never ever take it for granted. Once again my hats off to you all. Thanx

I installed the files listed in post #9. No trouble. I assume that's all I have to do in that regard?

Now I downloaded the new patch the link on #61 leads to. Before I d/l it I had a blue bar. Now I just see a white space, no "patch Operational" in the space. Is something missing?

I tried my current version/patch of WinMx and I am apparently still connecting fine as a primary. Everything is working including the usual 5 trillion chat rooms.

Do I need to download and install the new hosts file or should I just stay with what I have?

And a super thanks to everyone who has stepped forward to keep this great program alive and well!

I am still connected with the old patch, and have not changed it; so far, anyway. I'm running Winmx 3.54 Beta 4. Guess we'll see how long this goes, eh? you guys have our support in whatever happens.

i m still on line on the old patch too and all is cool but whenone of my roomadmins switch off the same working type mx she just could not connect anymore

so my guess is you have not yet closed winmx and it did not edisconnect accidentally either

i did however see some funny sh*t happen to my rooms running on WS32 (pickin back up more primaries after loosing almost all, like the caches got back online¿¿) but i might get back to that subject in the host section when/if i know more cause i don't believe myself what i m saying here now

They are still different. One is a patch and one is a pie.

I couldn't connect yesterday when I tried but today I can again. I haven't changed anything at all. No hosts files, no nothing. I thought I'd just wait to see what happened. Well when I tried today to connect (primary) it did so with no problem at all. People started queing up my files and downloading as well as myself being able to download from others. The search results are limited compared to before but that's to be expected I guess.

So I guess that leaves me with one question...what's the point in using the hosts file anyway?

The Winmx World team are working on a pernament patch at the moment and it is expected to be released soon.

Just to be clear.. or muddy.. up the waters..lol

At this time if you are connecting fine.. dont fix it..
If you are on pie hosts file.. dont fix it...

If however you are unable to connect then please do take the above advice and get the host file we have as 'a temp' fix to get connected.

I guess I might be the odd man out. I noticed I had a problem connecting so i let it ride. I shut it down and took the time to perform some clean up work. Started winny back up and i have never had so many people in my q before. Nor have i had such fast dl's. Whatever happend is fine by me. I havent changed anything in relation to minmx to reconnect. But it is working much better now.
