winmx is finished. you're wasting your time. find another sharing application like any other normal person would and move on lol.

i only just got back on line,took some doing ..but i beleive it actually works better now than it did before. i get p=9 s=12 and spm = 17000
thanks to everyone involved with sorting this out ...nice to know im doing my bit by having a primary connection..

Isnt it just wonderful that there are so many p2p applications that we can choose..

Please note this is a sharing application much like the Gnutella networks now

There is no one left to shut down.. so.. its a great idea to stay with WinMX....

Yesterday evening I spent several hrs trying to get on the winmx network. The system is set up to host as a primary on tha usual ports.

Within seconds (under a min) the program would crash and ask if you wanted to notify the vender of the program and then the normal crash analisis report to microsoft. Error reporting showed that ntdll.dll was creating the error for winmx. Also after each crash (attempting to find the problem) I had some hard drive errors. This is a new system & clean install so I now it is NOT hardware problems. Clean up the caches etc and reboot, problems gone. Start winmx and it crashes.

Finally did reinstall of winmx, then replaced ntdll.dll with the one in the servive pack 2 files, but this did not help as winmx still crashed.

I found that disabling the ports in the firewall and in the program would allow me to get on the network as a secondary. Just getting on as a secondary without closing the ports, it still crashed. WinMX has been up & running all nite without further problems. I will try the Sherwood program & see if this allows me to go back to being set up as a primay.

Any ideas or others that have experinced this??

hope i got this right this time .... ive sent it to myself and god knows who else...

we have several host to our room i am one of them i would like to become part of the admin and host forum, i have to say you guys have done a brilliant job at getting us back up and running there was a time that we thought we would have to leave but ...we stayed and thank god we did, thank you very very much
