Port fowarding

 :? I am conufuzzled about port forwarding and exactly how to do it. Can someone please explain how to do this to me in simple terms? I am using XP Home, and my modem is a Motorola SB1501.

Hi Mr. Sin hirche dhu tm

Welcome to the site.  That modem is a cable modem only and doesnt need ports forwarded.  Unless you have a seperate piece of hardware that is a router on its own then it wont do me or you alot of good to explain it.

If your having problems with uploads and DO NOT have a seprate router then I would suggest you make sure your XP firewall is configured or OFF if you use other firewalls.  Make sure WinMX is allowed in those firewalls if you do.

Maybe if you post back to me the exact problems your having and what firewalls you use we can help you with that..

 Ok. I have the Windows firewall. It is off. Still people cannot down load from me.

I think you should use the link above to configure the firewall and add the ports needed to it, they often continue to block when disabled at times so lets try that next ...
