yes.. that was about the site, not the domain itself, & at that point i was *not* in control of the domain.. nor had i *at that time* decided to take it on... as different arrangements for handling the dns were under discussion.

i'll stop posting on the subject when people actually show they've read & understood what i've said, as long as people seem determined to try to cast me in an incorrect & bad light, when not in possession of the majority of the facts,  i'll continue to respond defendding my position.

OF COURSE i did nothing with a domain that wasn't mine.. not like there was any option... i did however do something when the opportunity actually arose to take it on (which required me to be online at the same hours as KM).

strangely most of us have lives outside winmx.. & the instance you cite i was being contacted by persons in another time zone (aussie i think) understandably the times when we were mutually online  tended not to mesh well...

Bearded I thought it was very plain above that it was my wish to bring this off topic to a close, you have continued posting and in such a way as to muddy the waters so lets finalise this in public.

We (winmxworld) are happy you have taken over the domain and are happy to accept your word to do the best you can (and yes we know you have a busy real life) to take care of KM,s legacy programs, in fact I believe all will be happy with this arrangement, now having taken all that on board what more really is there to pontificate over, lets draw a fresh line in the sand, we need a mutual level of trust or whats occuring here will repeat itself ad infinitum, are you happy we move on from this and also where do you want folks reffered to with problems you may be able to help with as I,m aware you have a site of your own they could connect to if thats your wish, lets hear something positive in terms of whats going to be the way ahead for wcs users, I,m ready to move on if you are, and I,m sure the rest of the folks will enjoy your take on what the future holds.

WHO muddied the waters? it was not i who carefully quoted a post from elswhere out of context, showing a request for help on a vaguely but not directly related matter (a request it turned out anyway for help outside my expertise & skills in short i couldn't help them even if i'd been available) .... i also resent the implication that being involved in a once in 25years project when things came to a head & therfore not as available as normal somehow makes me generally unreliable... however i've said my piece on that subject now & will only continue if such things are brought up again..... (just don't expect me to ignore it if such things are)

in terms of continued support for wcs (and indeed wcb) users, efrorts are being made to recover the mxstuff site & host it on a new server, owing to one or two problems this appears to have been delayed.. & i've not had as much communication as i'd like with those involved in terms of knowing what stage that is currently at..  my own site is only likely to be used as a contact point should those efforts run into insurmountable problems, not that i have any particular objection, just that it's primarily a socially oriented site, rather than primarily help & support.. & i'd rather like to keep the mxsuff name alive too...

basically a case of "more news when i have more idea what's going on myself"  i shall endeavour to keep you all informed..

untill a web based setup is sorted i'm sure anyone wanting help/suport etc for KM's software will be welcome in the mxstuff chatroom... as with your chatroom it tends to be catch as catch can.. if nobody is around at a given time try again.. i & others look in as & when we can..

We all resent certain things, with me its rudeness, regardless I,m glad to hear you have a battle plan and will keep us informed of whats going on.

one man's rudeness is another man's plain speaking.. intellectually i'm aware i often speak.. let's say "very plainly", usually there's less malice in it than gets perceived.. i realise for various reasons there's er "some mistrust" between us, however, remaining on at least speaking terms seems best all round..

i know work has gone on towards restoring the mxstuff site's web presence tonight, although it looks a simple small thing.. it appears km never coded a line when a paragraph would do... or a simple link if he could use a script instead...  ofc someone good with sites may see his as simple.. but my own level with html & php being N00B ... i see what i've seen of it as complex...

efforts are continuing.. something will doubtless come of them in due course.. my own skills in that regard i know to be limited, i'm sure the result will be better than the hackup i would be forced to left to my own devices...

You could always ask for some help from the community to get you rolling a little faster, without Nylly, Tiny, Tig , MicroMecca and of course KM we would not likely be here ourselves, in the end I think its to everyones benefit to have more rather than less Mx related sites.

Btw I attempted to contact KM earlier to ask about his software src releases that seem to have no licence contained in the packages, do you or anyone else know what the status is with this as its a legal minefield to allow people to post their own modifications or updates here unless he has stated a licence of some sort, I understand you may not know the status of this atm either Bearded but I,m also aware folks have the src codes and may well wish to release items and so this may be a good time to help us ensure we dont break KMs distribution or copyright arrangements, any help on clearing up this potential problem will be much appreciated.

well.. as to the site.. i've already effectively accepted offers of help, & i hesitate to undermine ppl's confidence by trying to bring in more if they don't ask for it.. a recipe for offended sensibilities i think, i'm sure each of those involved knows others in the community they can ask advice themselves.. if & when *they* feel they need it, i don't want to upset anbyone or have them feel others are either pushing in on their efforts, taking over, or putting them under undue pressure, it's not like there's any firm deadline by which it needs to be sorted, a slight delay is probably worth the avoidance of friction...

as to the src packages, i can make no more definate statement than anyone else, having posted them on a public forum for download i would *imagine* his intention was for them to be downloaded & worked on/carried forward by anyone who has the skills to do so, it would also *i think* make it harder to defend copyright claims he later tried to make.. but that's just my personal view, i'm neither mind reader nor legal expert, the text of the posts to which they were attatched is the likeliest place to look for clues, unfortunately i don't currently have that available to me here, i may persue the issue later in the evening.. but i've just been presented with errands to run & must go out for a while

Thanks MeHere for helping me get my WCS chat server to work again!! You have always been a great help to me and others with issue we have, no matter how big or how small, you are always there to lend a hand...As far as the Ouka server goes, I've been busy hosting on WCS right now and with outside commitments, so I have not have time to work on the Ouka server issue that I was having.

As soon as I find the time to work on it, I will post back here with my result. And as far as changing settings, I have no problems with that, providing it's going to be a more stable connection.

And reef, thank you also for helping me try and resolve my Ouka issue, I appreciate all the help.

Thanks all again for the help.  :)

Im not sure Lisa but id try this procedure

I know its a problem for windows firewall for sure:

Go to the firewall find Ouka on the exceptions list and 'remove it' completely.  Restart Ouka now and let the firewall either ask or see if it auto adds it back to the exceptions list.  Then re-add your ports now and then see if it connects ok.  You may or may not want to do this with McAfee too.

Let us know.

I've tested the caches being pointed to at that address and they are responding correctly, I'll make sure there hasn't been a glitch in the night but I would say everything is ok.

I would go through your connection settings again, and firewall and router, although I would be inclined to think firewall perhaps with Ouka not connecting

Hi, it worked. What I did was completely removed Ouka from my windows firewall and my mcafee firewall, deleted Ouka from pc,,,then i turn off my mcafee firewall and turned on windows firewall, re downloaded the Ouka program, windows firewall asked if i should continue to block or unblock, I unblocked it, then i turned on mcafee firewall and turned off windows firewall, went back into both firewalls and re entered the port settings and when i tried connecting Ouka it worked. Thanks guys for the help. Now I have two more questions that you may be able to help me with. The auto welcome message that you can run when someone enters room, is there a way to turn off the port and ip from showing, I tried to delete %port% %ip% from the welcome message but it won't show when someone enters,,,and the other question I have is, on the setting for passcodes, the levels, is there somewhere that tells what each level is set to allow people to control in room. Thanks again for all your help  :)
