This is not something you see everyday, a recording artist putting the labels in their place.
http://torrentfreak.com/slipknot-frontman-says-record-labels-cause-piracy-080910/Slipknot vocalist and frontman Corey Taylor says it’s time for the music industry to stop taking legal action against downloaders. He feels it is the labels themselves who are to blame for online piracy, since the quality of released music is so bad, no-one wants to buy it.
Taylor told Kerrang: “Why would you blame (people who download music)? Half the f**king albums that are out there are s**t. I don’t download, but at the same time, I don’t buy new music ’cause it all sucks. Okay, there’s a handful of bands that I buy, but other than that, I just buy old s**t because old s**t is good. Sorry!”
Its very welcome for artists to come out and speak in this way but lets face it someone has to prod the recording industry into the new century, they are still pushing the same old gimmick laden videos and the famous "hear one track then buy the album" scheme that allows poor quality artists to be rewarded at the public expense, I say rewarded but I actually am given to understand that the artists are ripped off also, its well known the recording industry has many excellent tax lawyers even the RIAA is a tax exempt charity, the rest of us have to pay our way.
