If the tests are failihg during install they will simply set you to 'unable' on both port settings, this however shouldn't keep you from connecting.  You can always go in and manually set up ports or the new patch may do it for you via uPnP settings (if your router/modem allow this).

What I'd suggest is that you have a look here about puting ports in:
https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/changing_port_numbers.html

Here is a guide for the difference in Clients:
https://www.winmxworld.com/help/winmx-versions.html

Now that all said, your Topic title is a bit confusing for me, If you're having issues with the 'Network Connection' (flashing yellow) that wont be anything to do with the ports set up.  So if the above information isnt helpful to you, maybe you  can explain  the issues in more details like whats actally not working and what your system set up is like Operating system, firewalls, antivirus, routers, modems with built in router..etc..

yes, l am having problem with 'Network Connection' (flashing yellow), one or two years ago l was using one of the old patches which would allow me to pass the install test then l could connect through primary without any problem, now both primary and seconary are flashing yellow forever....
l am using windows ME, no firewall or antivirus, and l am using a ZTE wireless ADSL router, model zxv10 w300, but l never use it for wifi, l only use lan cable to get online, any idea?

Try this portforward.com link http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/ZTE/ZXV10-W300/WinMX.htm , hopefully it's the right set up guide for your router.

Honestly this sounds like it 'could' be ISP blocking WinMX connection however I'm not aware of anyone in the Hong Kong area having troubles with that.  Of course I'd likely not hear about those areas as the language barrier is usually large.

As said before the flashing yellow will not be port related, something is blocking the initial connection to the peer caches and this will can only be either a program running on the system or a poorly installed patch, or ISP blocking it.

In the english speaking areas where the ISP does block its only during certain hours of a day (peak usage hours) like evenings and weekends.
Can you try different times of the day and see if this same problem persists.

I find it a bit odd that you're not running any protective software on the system, there is nothing that 'came with' the ISP or the comupter for protection?

Can you verifiy that there is infact a patch installed?
Open C Drive (or where your program files are located)/Program Files/WinMX Folder.
Look inside here for two files one named 'oledlg.dll' and the other named 'oledlg.ini'
If you dont have the 'oledlg.ini' file in there, can you make sure the 'oledlg.dll' file you have is current (right click properties should give you a created or modified date).

Let me know what you find out about these things.

no oledlg.ini, and the created or modified date is 17-9-08
and my isp doesnt block bt, and l can use another similar software foxy without any problom, l dont think they will bother with winmx...

Ok that date indicates the patch cant be a new one, so for some reason the installation never completed.

What I'd like for you to do is this:
Go to  https://patch.winmxconex.com
Get the installer for your WinMX Version.  Download this and 'Save' it to your system where you can find it easy.
Once its finished downloading go to the file and run it.

Once installation is finished  this should connect fine.  If not let me know here.

ieh4f,

One of the problems is that the install you have is the wrong date, which means that it didnt install properly, and the second reason I'm asking you to reinstall is because the patch hasnt made an 'oledlg.ini' file inside the WinMX folder (which isnt needed to make a connection but is needed for the patch to do some of the other lesser functions).

If its not too much trouble for you could you follow the directions exactly as ive stated above and lets make sure that your install finishes well... installing lol.
