Ray Beckerman Files Reply To Recording Industry Allegations
« on: November 08, 2008, 10:42:42 am »
The public voice of the legal resistance campaign against the recording industry barely-legal-extortion manouveres facing attack himself in court has made his thoughts clear in a reply to the recording industries moronic claims.

Quote
"Plaintiff's papers so reek with falsehood and fallacy it would take more time and paper that we can commit to this project to respond in full," Beckerman wrote (.pdf) in New York federal court papers Friday.
Beckerman, who publishes the Recording Industry vs The People blog, said the RIAA's motion for monetary sanctions against himself and a New York woman he is defending in a file sharing case is "sprinkled with ad hominem attacks against myself and my copyright blog."

The back-and-forth started in September, when the RIAA declared Beckerman a "vexatious" litigator when defending a New York woman named Marie Lindor, who was accused of making copyrighted music available on the Kazaa file sharing program. (We remind you that the RIAA has filed some 30,000 cases copyright infringement cases, some of which included dead people, children and the elderly.)

After five depositions and three years of legal jockeying, the RIAA dropped the case against the woman in September.

This is a high profile target for the recording industry, and since their actions other law professionals have announced they will be supporting folks facing the extortion business model so favoured by the US recording industry, clearly they may be able to attack this one man but not his case winning knowledge of the law that has cost the recording industry as much in face as it has in revenues.
