The fire underneath Davenport  Lyons has received extra fuel in this latest move to halt their P2P extortion campaign.

Lawyers for the consumer rights lobby Which? have filed an official complaint to the body that regulates solicitors over Davenport Lyons' campaign of letters alleging illegal filesharing.
For several months Davenport Lyons has been sending letters to individuals accusing them of pirating videogames via peer-to-peer networks, and demanding £500 on behalf of rights holders.

Now Which?, formerly known as the Consumers' Association, has reported Davenport Lyons to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Announcing the move, Which? said it had drawn regulators' attention to the detail of Davenport Lyons' letters. The complaint includes claims they "make incorrect assertions about the nature of copyright infringement; ignore the evidence presented in defence; and increase the level of compensation claimed over the period of correspondence".

I would further suggest a police raid be undertaken to secure evidence of the secret contracts that exist between DL and the "real" copyright owners that allow a third party to offer the files on Bit torrent purely to act as bait for sharers, something they are keeping out of the public eye, also a good grounds for such a raid could be the illegal storage of data being obtained by illegal means, all data is subject to the data protection act and thus far DL and logistep have not shown any licence to collect or store the said IP information, IP information has been ruled as personal information by the EU and is thus covered.

Lets hope all this lawbreaking is delivered a death blow by the relevant authorities as it surely brings the law into disrespect when its abused in this way by a conspiring gang of lawyers to extort the gullible and the fearful who would rather pay than face a bully-boy gang of slipshod lawyers regardless of having any knowledge of this firms claims.
