No results!
« on: January 22, 2009, 10:58:27 pm »
As of today I can connect, but I keep getting "waiting for results" and no results ever come.  It worked fine two days ago.  Anyone else having this problem?  Thanks.

Can you tell me what patch you are using and what has upgraded over the last few days?

Winmx Community patch 1.0.....at least that's what it says in the grey message area at the top.  It also says "thanks EagLE".

Ok, can you check your router for me please hun and make sure the ports havent changed if you are running ports.

Also can you check your firewalls to make sure winmx is allowed through them.

Incoming TCP is 52300.  UDP is 53200.  Also, I'm not sure how to check if my firewall is blocking it.  Again, it was working fine 2 days ago and nothing else has changed with my computer.  Thanks.

Actually, I checked the firewall and it has WinMX checked to allow it to be connected so I guess its an issue with the router.  I found some instructions on how to check the router, but I'm having trouble with some steps.  If there's a step by step thread somewhere please let me know.  Thanks.

I wrote down all the information you need for the port forwarding steps, but I had trouble with the part where you fill in the numbers on portforward.com.  The advanced setup screen when you go into the nat part and hit virtual server it looks a bit different to me than the one in the tutorial.  I know it should be easier, but I just can't seem to get this thing going.  HELP!!  Thanks.

Hi Bigred

Follow these instructions this should help as the inter ip can be slightly different:

You can find out what a machines internal IP is by doing the following:
Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Command/MSDos prompt.
In the black DOS box type in ipconfig for getting the ip of one machine.
Type ipconfig /all to get the Gateway and Internal IP of  the machine.

Please post back if this helps and other problems you are having.

I already have those numbers.  It's the steps following that with portforward.com and filling in those lines that I'm a bit confused with.  I'm no computer wiz(obviously), but I find the steps filling in those lines confusing.  Thanks.

If this worked two days ago i think you noght not have followed the link Tig gave you about static ip's and therefor youi might not have set a static  ip yet.
This means your dynamic ip might gave changed ..breaking acces to the set open ports (because they are open for the old ip and not the new)
Please follow tig's link... https://www.winmxworld.com/tutorials/static_ip.html

My parent's have a SMC 7008 ABR at their house, and I discovered that the router's firewall thinks loading the chat list & searching for files on a primary connection is a DoS attack.

You either have to change from a primary connection to secondary one within winmx, or uncheck the "SPI and Anti-DoS firewall protection" box within the router's GUI as well as forward winmx's 2 ports. These pictures I made, below, may help you:

Hi Bigred

Follow the numbers but do not put them in the page itself i think i understand now what is happening.

Once you have those numbers look at the portforwarding page and follow those instructions but dont put the numbers in.

If you are still having problems open winmx click chat and type in WinMXWorld.com Help_AE182F4EBABE and click join

We can take you through step by step instructions... if i am not around i am sure one of the others will be able to help you.

I'm trying to do this one more time before I go to the help page.  How do you find the IP address of the router?  Is it one of the numbers you see when you type in ipconfig/all in msdos prompt?  Thanks.

I can't get into that help chat room for some reason.  I did waht you said and hit join then nothing happened.  I tried the portforwarding process again with no luck.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.  I f someone could walk me through this I would appreciate it.  Thanks.
