I got an email from eagle@hackroom.org asking for my log file and saying that it had an error.  Is this legit and why did I get the email?

That is a legit email address for the developer of the patch, in the event of an error that is unexpected.  This is to send an email to him and let him know of potential problems, log in order to fix those potential problems.

Are you having any other problems with WinMX or the patch?

I was not aware of any problems until I got the message.  I can still download and others upload from me.

I wouldn't worry too much then its likely that the patch didnt get the blocklist loaded, which is not uncommon, but is rare, and its set up to inform the developer of any issues.  Usually the fix for that one is restart WinMX.
